Looking at all the probable runners, i think this is going to be a great preakness
will rachael alexandra be good enough to run with the boys and how will the other newcomer hull whom i think is un defeated do with this class

well, who does everyone like in this race. I have to view all charts before i choose my pick but leaning on 3 horses right now
rachael alexandra,hull,musket man

If Rachel Alexandra runs, she wins easily as the current crop of 3 year old colts, that have not been injured, is very weak. She would either go wire to wire or just relax and sit of a moderate pace and take the race as she pleased. Now, that's if she is entered and that is a very big if as of now.

Just overheard on TVG channel that Rachel Alexandra is confirmed to be in the Preakness and that C. Borel has agreed to ride her once again... Negotiations are pending with Mike Smith to take over the mount for Mine that Bird....

Fillies in the Preakness Stakes

Excellent Meeting in 1999 was the last
filly to run in the Preakness
Date: 05/09/09

Since 2009 Kentucky Oaks winner Rachel Alexandra may be supplemented to the Preakness Stakes this year, here is a look at the history of fillies in the Preakness. If Rachel Alexandra does run, she will become the first Kentucky Oaks winner to start in the Preakness.

So far only four fillies have won the Preakness Stakes: Nellie Morse (1924), Rhine Maiden (1915), Whimsical (1906), and Flocarline (1903). In total, there have been 52 fillies to start in the Preakness with 4 winning, 5 finishing second, and 8 finishing third. It is interesting to note that a filly, Regret, also won the Kentucky Derby in 1915, however she did not start in the Preakness.

The last filly to enter the Preakness was Excellent Meeting in 1999. She did not have much luck and pulled up after after 6 furlongs, but she did come back to race again and retired after her 4-year-old season. The most recent filly prior to her was Kentucky Derby winning filly Winning Colors who finished 3rd in the Preakness.

Here is a chart of all the fillies in the Preakness Stakes with their odds (* indicates the post time favorite) and finish position with winners in bold. There are no odds available for the races before 1900 and a few charts from 1900-1906 did not have odds for all horses so some will be missing if they were not listed.

I feel the same about this race as the 2007 Belmont Stakes. Going into that race I felt there was no way Rags To Riches could lose. Even going against Curlin Rags was ready to win that race. Going into this race I don't think other then a major accident that Rachel Alexandra could lose this race. I am hoping to get even money on her because if I can I am loading up.

Grabbed Freisan Fire at 12-1 today. Believe he went off as the Derby fav for a reason. Won't hurt he didn't go all out in that Derby.
