I think it's really up in the air at this point. The Yankees don't look as strong as everybody thought they would. I don't see a clear-cut favorite. Playoffs will be exciting.
I'd say no value on NYY. Ana still has to win wildcard, Lander. Oakland has pitching, Boston may get WC over ANA. It's a good race, 6 teams for 4 spots, only NYY and Minn look to be for sure. I'm pulling for Texas, and ATL in WS ( for futures).
blue is right. . besides who has the best record in all of bases since the trade deadline? this team i sjust mowing everyone down. why get corny and speculate on fence teams. any team who can make up 6 games on the yankees in 10 days is obviously worth a look.
I wouldn't call the Angels schedule soft, they start on Tuesday with a 3 game set in Boston, followed by 3 more at not dead yet Cleveland. Later they play the Rangers 7 times, the A's 3 times, and the White Sox 3 times.
Maybe I should not have included the whole month of SEPT.
I should say between Sept 3 - Sept 23 during that 3 week period they only have 3 games against a team who is currently above .500 and thos 3 games are at home against Texas. So I believe they should really smoke during that 3 week period and they should head into the final 10 days of the season in first place and just have to hold it.
7 games with Seattle
3 with Cleveland
3 with Toronto
3 with CWS
3 with Texas
Oakland is hot too, still a 3-team race for divisional title, and Boston just as hot. Ana not a lock for for play-off spot, but dangerous IF they get in.
13 out of 33 games against playoff contenders is in no way soft, not to mention the last 7 games (4 Texas and 3 A's) are probably going to settle th issue. The A's play an almost identical schedule (on different dates naturally). The fact that Texas is still in the race as Septemeber arrives makes them ligitimate imo. All these non-contender teams love to play spoiler - no game is a gimme in baseball. Look at the Yankees losing to Toronto today.
