Las Vegas Sports Consultants has defending co-national champion Southern California (or USC, as most of us still call it) as the 4-1 favorite to win the BCS title game, which will take place Jan 4. in the Orange Bowl at Pro Player Stadium in Miami.

Oklahoma and Georgia are next on LVSC's list, at 5-1, followed by the other co-national champ, LSU, at 8-1. Texas, Florida St., and Miami-Fla. are at 10-1, and Michigan is at 12-1.

Notre Dame is a longshot at 75-1, but don't expect to see odds that high at LVSC's sports books clients, especially with Fighting Irish fans hitting the sports books this weekend.

Due to Nevada gaming regulations, you won't find odds on who will win the Heisman Trophy, but offshore books like Olympic (thegreek.com) are under no such restrictions. Olympic has Southern Cal quarterback Matt Leinart and Kansas St. running back Darren Sproles as the co-favorites at 5-1, and Oklahoma quarterback Jason White at 8-1, as he tries to become only the second player to win two Heismans, joining former Ohio St. running back Archie Griffin.

Just the mention of CFB gets my juices flowing, been a long winter. Phil Steele LOVES Ok, calls them possibly the best team EVER?? Too bad they can`t beat K St! Best ever, no way!!!! Ga. has all their key players back on O, Greene, Gibson etc. Dark horse Va. Cavs. Title Gm? On a limb FSU vs USC, as good as any I guess at this point. Be nice to see a REAL dark horse in it one of these yrs. Hurry up Sep.

W/Williams SC -2/3, otherwise pick. I know Ok D is great also PO but would be concerned re. their lack of big time running back. How about the FSU/Canes @ Miami, but think Noles will be a slight fav.

USC will be scary good next season especially if Mike Williams comes back. And let me fill you in, Williams most likely will be back if he passes his summer school classes which he starts on Wed.

USC has been explosive on offense the last 2 seasons under OC Norm Chow. Next season will be the first season USC will have an experienced QB returning under the Chow system. Last year was Leinarts first season as QB (pretty scary). Only thing stopping USC on offense is the OL unit. All new unit but they are bigger and more talented just not as experienced. That is why it is important to recruit!!! Under Chows offense, he has many 3 step drops and boom throw the ball. No DL can sack a QB who fires the ball that quick and has Mike Williams as a target. USC was going to be fine this upcoming season at WR position without Williams. USC fans were not too worried and now if he is back it will be almost impossible to defend. Don't forget my Heisman Trophy darkhorse, Reggie Bush the RB at USC. AWESOME TALENT and he has 4.3 speed and is like a WR coming out of the backfield. What LB can cover him? Mike Williams? Tight Ends? Other WR's? Chow making the calls? Gonna be pretty difficult!!!!

Side note: Last season USC #1 and #2 tight ends were injured and USC offense still dominated. Both will be healthy next season!!!

On defense, USC has been pretty solid the last 3 years under Carroll despite not having the players to run his system. Remember, Carroll is a defensive genious (#1 defenses in NFL). This upcoming season will be the first season he will have all the players he needs to run his style of defense.

As a result, USC could very well dominate every opponent on both sides of the ball.

OU "could" beat USC in the beginning of the season, but no team will beat USC at the end of the season. Bank on it!

I like Mo. also but not quite THAT well. If we`re dreaming how about W.Va 27 Ok 24? Hell this has as much validity as fantasizing about Charlize. Luck to all.

Talking about the National Championship game.

USC has to be the top choice to get there. I don't think there is a whole lot of arguement about that. I think this season sets up unbelievable for USC. There toughest game of the year is at home against Cal (they will want revenge) and other than that I guess Virginia Tech/Notre Dame might be the best on the schedule.

I see there schedule and the Pac 10 stinks this year (my opinion). Every team lost countless number of people (except Cal). I think this down year for the pac 10 may end up hurting USC. They might not have any one challenge them until the Championship game against a team that would more than likely face a much tougher schedule. That could really help the other team.

Now who USC faces is a question. I think OU has to be a choice with almost the entire offense back and much of the defense. OU also got a new co-Defensive coordinator with Bo Pelini. Pelini was the one that came to Nebraska (my team) and totally turned around the defense in one year. Nebraska was 11th in total defense, 2nd in scoring defense. Now you could argue that the talent is superior at OU than at NU so he could make a huge impact there. The schedule for OU looks pretty tough. OU plays Texas (count that as a win) and also plays Oregon (maybe the Pac 10 #2 that skips USC this year), at Kansas State, at Oklahoma State, and Nebraska (just hoping it will be great).

OU could and probably should get through there schedule and then there is the Big 12 championship game.

Now the team that I really like, Georgia. They return nearly there entire offense. The got the entire OL and nearly all the DL returning. I think David Greene could win the Heisman. The thing that will probably keep Georgia out of the Orange bowl is the schedule. They play Marshall, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, and Georgia Tech. They have the hardest schedule by far of the top 3 teams (USC, OU, Georgia). They do play LSU at home and early in the season which should help because LSU will have a new QB plus double revenge of losing to LSU 2x last year. But then again Georgia could have to play LSU again in the SEC championship. I don't think Georgia will get to the Orange Bowl unless they have only one loss and that should keep their BCS numbers good enough to get in, especially playing in the toughest conference.

I just think that USC easy schedule will get them to Miami pretty easy but could hurt them once they get there because they will face a team that has been challenged throughout the entire year.

My Overrated teams
1. Missouri
2. Clemson
3. Iowa

My Underrated teams
1. Virginia
2. Auburn
3. North Carolina State
4. UConn

Just my thoughts/opinions

Just a thought,

When was the last time the #1 going into the season ended up #1?

I think it was Florida State in 99 but am to lazy to look it up.

That being said I don't think the #1 team ends up there very often, so I would bet against USC ending up there and take other teams like Georgia, OU, LSU, Miami, FSU, OSU, UM.

Sixkiller,

I know Clemson came on strong last year but everybody has them about the 3rd team in the ACC (behind FSU/Miami). I just don't see it though. Clemson has 4 road games Texas A&M, Florida St, Virginia, Miami, Duke. I think the Texas A&M game could be very tough for them and the only other game I think they will win is versus Duke. But any way I see 3 losses on the road (maybe 4). Tough home games include Georgia Tech, Maryland, NC State, and South Carolina. They could lose 1 maybe 2 of those so that is anywhere from 4-6 losses the way I look at it.

A lot of people have them as a top 15 team but I don't think so. They won't surprise anyone this year as a ton of people are talking about them and will be ready for them. I see them ended up about 6th or lower in the ACC, far below most other people. JMO

NC State lost Phillip Rivers and receiver Jerricho Cotchery. They return a ton of starters minus those two key players. I think a lot of people won't look at them because Rivers is gone but if the new QB jumps in and does decent they could be a very tough team. They do return T.A. McLendon, a very good RB. They have 9 starters back on defense and they should improve in that department. They do have tough road games at Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Clemson, but most of the toughest games are at home Ohio State, Miami, and Florida St. I think coach Chuck Amato has done a great job recruiting talent and it will show this year. I think if the new QB gets some breaks early and gains confidence this is a very scary team with most key games at home (Clemsons tough games on road). The Ohio State game at home could be winable. Ohio St will also be starting a new QB and if they did manage to win the game watch out for a confident bunch of players. I think they could climb up to about 4th in the ACC, which is a lot higher than most others have them.

All is just my opinion though and anything could happen. That is why college football is so great.

Texas... with Mack Brown as head coach and Greg Robinson as the Def Coordinator... nah maybe not.

I really like Clemson. I dont care who moved to that conference. They may not win the whole thing but they will win a bunch of wagers.

Georgia could end up there if Richt doesnt feel the need to have DJ Shockley "foul" up a series for no apparent reason.
