The winners in this r the players adn the losers are traditional golf fans.

'penny pinch'? r you suggesting the PGA could have stopped this? no way. Guaranteed $100 mill contracts? Phil got $200 mill, he's a senior . And no way the PGA tour will work with LIV. Numero uno is going to fight to stay numero uno. For them to say - " yeah sure dj you are free to leave as a member of our tour but feel free to come back at The Memorial '. Not going to fuckin happen.

The issue with elite players participating in fewer tournaments ain't new,as you know . these guys make a shit load of money ,no need to grind out playing 25-30 events . Maybe ensure members play 17 events per yr pre -fedex ? Rory has played 13, Rahm 15, JT 17.

If im Greg Norman my biggest fight at this point is for WR points. If he loses? Well, LIV is a glorified exhibition, a cash cow . 5'oclock mentioned this much earlier and I agree .DJ will be out of the top 20 in no time. Will be like , 'whos dj?' ....only major he'll qualify for is Augusta

Listened to a golf podcast the other day , guest was Brandon Stooksburry . Never heard of him . Was about putting, he had a quote that got to me . Still in my head ,lol .

Speaks of 3 aspects in putting and the quote is related to the 3rd : mental part

'confidence is not earned , confidence is owned '

Immediately thought of Nicklaus' quote : 'in my mind ,I never missed a putt'

Putting has a crazy high failure rate . The pros ,best putters in the world make a 10 foot putt 40% of the time

My take from his quote and Jack's is :

Pick the line , the speed ,commit and let it go . If there's no commitment you r dead. The reason that quote got to me is golf relates so well with life . Does that quote as well ?

Food for thought

Rory played 13 events. 0nky 7 were Pga events. We can’t realistically consider the invite only 60 man CJ no cut event and 20 man hero tiger woods event pga events. Just like the Zurich and it’s team play. Toss out his 4 majors and WGC also he played.

And DJ never plays the Memorial oddly. Making them play 17 pga events no way they sign up for it. Again all these so called pga events aren’t really pga events. No way these divas do it. The pga tour operates under what 42 events? Yet, even the Ryder cup is considered a pga tour event but it’s not officially pga tour. Just like the hero or the Florida shootout whatever that team event sponsor is or any of the majors or opens.

It’s just like the euro tour, the masters us open WGC and even the barbasol or barracuda type events are considered euro tour events but are they really euro tour? No. PGA operates under same umbrella. It’s misleading. Why can guys go play euro or pga events but play LIV events is a no way. Robert Macintyre plays euro tour events accumulating WR points but also plays 2-3 events on pga events before majors usually as a warm up, so why should he accumulate points over here but suddenly LIV guys are just banned.

The euro and pga and wgc are all separate but share events as their own. Why not LIV? The WGC is Asian, PGAAustralian, Japan tour and sunshine tour sanctioned. So why is the pga so anti LIV and kicking guys out? All these so called pga events aren’t pga many times.

PGA did penny pinch. Back in 2000 they could have easily increased these payouts. Just like nfl increased the contracts. But they hid under all these non pga events as their own bank rolling money. They took ownership of all media rights under the golfers. Controlling them and playing the we own your marketing rights etc. The LIV may not have formed, because these are the things the players have been against for years and it went on too long and a door opened. This player vs tour feud goes back to the late 70’s.

PGA needs to do like you mentioned and require 12 events that are pga only. Deere RSM Wyndham Travelers Genesis Rocket 3m type events and each year assign the golfers to say 4-5 of these events and rotating different venues every 3 years. Giving the option to play whatever they want to choose then say you picked 7 we fill in the next 5. Rory you play Valero Wyndham 3m Honda Genesis also. Even that would be hard because they would fake injuries probably and WD pre tournament

If the Fedex is their bread and butter then to get guys to play these other true pga events, Fedex cup points should not be accounted for Under majors or wgc type events. That would solve it. Because they aren’t pga events really anyway. And this is where guys get their points for the Fedex. It’s like the nba partners with WNBA, and China league or summer league and they share sponsorship. Yet, the WNBA isn’t really NBA.

"They chose that route, all you heard was 'play less, be home more', well now you want to play and come out and play the big events next year and then play over there. I just don't get it.

"You know what, you chose the circus, stay in the circus. "

hey , hey!! I called it The Circus first ! that dude is trying to steal my thunder!! ....lol

Norman made a big mistake by not getting a connection with the WG rankings before starting the 54 Tour. If that does not happen any player going to the 54 Tour will eventually lose their position and not qualify for many majors in the future based on World ranking.

This is turning into a “major” mess.

who is S Smith? his take;

Later that day, divisive host Smith was on Tuesday's edition of First Take, where he claimed he was "disgusted" with Woods.

"I'm disgusted by it. Let me explain why. The United States government, their number two trade partner, from what I've read, is Saudi Arabia. a host of U.S. corporations, and I apologize, I just googled it, I just looked it up just now. If I'm wrong about anybody, please forgive me, General Electric, AT&T, 'Bank of America, Halliburton Company, Pfizer International. A whole bunch of people. If I’m wrong, I apologize, it was online. Talk about these major 'corporations doing business. I don't know. I just said it was online, so I don't know. But I'm pretty sure it’s safe to say U.S. corporations doing big business with Saudi Arabia and suddenly individuals are looking to get paid and everybody is in an uproar?"

"I thought this was America. I thought we were a capitalistic society. I thought competition breeds our greatness. That’s what I thought. Tiger Woods is sitting there acting like the PGA should be the only game in town. When do we say that? Now granted, if you're the only game in town, you're the only game in town. We see it in USFL and we see Arena Football but we know it’s the NFL and then everybody else. You can have the G League and college basketball, but we know it’s the NBA and everybody else.

"You got Major League Baseball, we understand that you can have those things, but the chances of you usurping them and eclipsing them are slim to none. They are established brands in the United States of America that garner the support of millions and as a result that's what we gonna flow with. I'm good with that. That's America. You establish your level of dominance to the point that it don't matter what some competition is going to do, cool. This is different."

........

he's right about competition is a good thing, also the hypocrisy of the Suadi 'blood' money. But he's wrong about the bold. Tiger is not saying that . Cmon now , good grief

Are you kidding? Golf is the most relaxing sports to watch and bet like in Bet365 or Ole777. And I find golfers really talented and skillful. I mean? It is a very hard sport to play.

One of the most thrilling sports to bet.

competition can do wonders, eh?

'obnoxious greed' running amok, lol. Players just HUGE winners in all this. Greg needs to fight for World Rankings points, its the great equalizer imo, ...DJ is now outside the top 20!

+175 im seeign to win. He's been dialed in a few weeks now

Phil going rogue was the best thing for the PGA players to get the new money ?.

These players should be thanking him, despite him being the bad guy in all of this. No way they would've got it otherwise.

Phil ? They all need to be thanking Norman .

Greg has changed professional golf .Phil is a pawn who embraced Greg's vision . No way he gets $200 mill from anyone if not for Greg . If he didn't take that $200 mill it would have gone to another big name

Can't argue with that either man.. good point. Phil became the wedge between the two groups. Phil getting the 200 million pretty much told you that this could get done though. Greg doesn't get Tiger or Phil , not sure if this thing gets done. Not sure DJ or any other player moves over

you really believe that? DJ turns down $100,000,000 as he's waiting on Tiger or Phil's approval? Surely you jest

anyway...The Man wins the FedEx. He wins his 4th Vardon Trophy as well, had his lowest scoring average of his career...actually only one player has had a lower scoring average than Rory's 2022 campaign. A guy named Tiger, lol

he'd trade the FedEx win for the Claret Jug tho , was at St Andrews no less. Just cant seem to win another major

Norman sold it all in USA, he lived in Florida for good part of his life, made a fortune. He left. He's in Australia now. Imo, this dude wants to squash the PGA Tour. Any 'working with the PGA Tour ' rhetoric is total bs. He maybe a better businessman than a golfer , which says a lot.

LIV is headed globally fellas. Definitely to Australia-- will have a regular stop or two. Look at his choice of words when speaking about golf and his beloved Australia;

'It's a market that I think is being abused to some degree, and unused on many fronts,' Norman told Fox Sports.

'My goal is to be able to bring what I can for the Australian fan base who absolutely love LIV's product. The local market would embrace us like no other.

'So we're going to come to Australia some time in the near future — I can't give you any timelines — but we will give our product to the Australian people.'

Abused? LOL

the Saudis have given him a platform, blank cheque book , like a dream come true for him. Needs to land Matsuyama. That is a mother load for the Eastern world. Marc, Cam in the bag from various reports . Does he lock Niemann?

Not necessarily either of their approvals. Probably waiting to see if either Tiger or Phil actually go.. DJ pretty much said he was staying when the Phil controversy was center stage. Tells me he might not have gone without Phil going. Those two are pretty tight.

My point is I don't think DJ would go without a bigger name going before him.. . Why didn't DJ go earlier while Phil was in his sabbatical ?

I get it with Reed. In Reed's particular case , he should've gone first.

We might not ever know.

DJ said he's staying put BEFORE the offer came to the table OR used the situation (media) as leverage

you think he gives a SHIT about Tiger/Phil blessing/legitimacy ?

Norman- 'okay, how does guaranteed $100,000,000 sound ?' (his CAREER earnings is $74,000,000)

DJ- 'deal,..........when do we start?'

cmon man, for fucks sake

You could be right.. But still don't think DJ wanted to jump ship first , and he easily could have. But waited.
