I mean, damn! People work and have other traditions that they follow and watching one of the two biggest games at 1pm Pacific Time on a work day is just flat the fuck stupid.

They have to find a way to get these games on New Years Day so everyone can settle in and watch.

I've heard ratings were way down. I bet ESPN and advertisers aren't happy. Some rich old white dudes probably thought it was a good idea. Retired, sitting around in their diapers gumming some hot cereal watching the games.

I read they were down 36%

you'd think the final 4 of college football is impossible to screw up, but man they try their hardest.

The Sugar Bowl and the Rose Bowl will always be played on New Year's Day, but those won't always be the bowls that host the semifinal games.

Also, New Year's Day is a holiday, New Year's Eve is not. It's a work day for many. ESPN reportedly lobbied College Football Playoff organizers to move the date, but playoff officials decided not to do so, apparently in the hopes of creating a new New Years Eve tradition.

Once again, people who are making some big money are making some big mistakes.

Sounds like our politicians for the past couple decades

it's more than politics

School presidents, NCAA committees, rules committees, Roger Goodall.................

bureaucrats from all walks of life making decisions about subject matters for which they have no knowledge

like healthcare, freedom of movement, false starts, defensive holding, changing the bowl schedule, coaches calling timeouts ...........................they just keep making things up as they go along when they should all just STFU and go away

don't fix what's not broken, fucking idiots
