Lets put a list of books together that take action on the NYSE and NASDAQ markets.

If possible, list what time they put the lines up and for how long they take action on it.

THANKS

Tradesports has a variety of contracts that seem to have reasonable liquidity during trading hours.

Fish, the 2 I know are the ones you know, 5 Dimes and Carib. I don't know of anymore (but I'm sure they're out there).

How do you bet the dow with a sportsbook? Are you betting whether it goes up or down on a given day, and by how much? i would love to know.

I am sure Tradesports has a variety of things to bid on but most what I saw elsewhere were just betting on up or down for the day. I fooled around with it a little bit based on a host of factors tied into the market like what day of the week it was, outside market influences etc... trying to bet it on hot days but never got real serious on it. Worth looking into again though if that is something that interests you. I got sidetracked and time became an issue but have some stuff on it I would share if interested.

Marc-
1) Shocking as this may sound, but I don't think every bettor completely reports his gambling winnings. Stock broker transactions are recorded for the IRS.

2) Not sure how the books hold percentage compares to the stock broker fees... so this might be an additional incentive.

Just saw this thread.

Tradesports is the best IMO. Because if you watch International feed DirecTV and get Bloomberg at 5 and really MSNBC at 4; their openong future numbers on the DOW,S&P NASDQ gets you a heads up on the morning. If you have enough in your account you can make money on the "New York" fade and then concentrate on the other "speculation" that you want to do later. At most books you have to go win/lose but at Tradesports you can get out on the side you picked any minute of the trading session.

The best place on the Net to bet on markets is, suprisingly enough, Bet On Markets.

All U.S. indices and many stocks are featured, as well as European and Asian indices, Forex market and gold; available run bets, day bets, futures, intraday, range or simple up/down, all kinds of neat shit.

Minimum bet is only $ 5.00

Accepts e-gold, E-Bullion, EvoCash, Neteller, bank wires, cheques, Visa/MC, and other funding methods; payouts by same plus has an available debit card issued by Loyal Bank that works very well.

I have played there since late 2000 and never had the slightest problem.

Yeah Phaedrus, I have breezed by them as I'm sure Sherlock has.

Just Kidding!

The only problem there is that when you make an investment you are stuck with it and they also make you pick a certain timeframe and you can't bail out when it starts head'in south. At TS you atleast can get out of the bet with a little left.

I think that bet on markets allows you to bet on more individual stocks than TS.

Actually, depending on the type of bet you have placed, you can sell it early -- in fact, you can do so when it's at a profit as well, taking a lower overall profit than the full potential than you would get should the bet pay off. I know that you can do this with expiry range bets for all of the markets, stocks, currencies and commodities available; not sure if you can do it with other types -- you can't with intraday bets for instance, but if you need to bail out of itnraday bets on a regular basis you shouldn't be placing them.

totally different thing. I can bet "down will end up for day" for $1000 and win my $1000 at the end of the day, regardless if the market is up 1 point or 100 points. Can't do that through a broker.
