SHARPS do...but that is a trick question!!! They do, but they middle out many times! So it is not the same as taking a side and sticking with it. If you are a SHARP that does not middle then you can still be a sharp and wait on watching line moves into your favor closer to game time. Am I right, or am I right?? Come on give me some loving? RobFunk...you know you like it...come on...that is the answer...right? Well, let me know guys. tulsa

yeah, you are right. the guys who grabbed duke +8.5 are probably banking on the fact a lot of people will like all those points and are pretty sure they can grab NC -6 or -6.5 later on

its at NC -7 already

if done properly and are lucky they can get a nice 2 or 3 pt. middle try. if you get a lot of middles at -107 with 2 or 3 pts, youre going to make a ton of money by seasons end tulsa make no mistake about it

I was up at 4am sat morn and this is what i saw.
Line moved from 2' to -3 on W.Virg. Wrong.
Line moved 4' to -4 on Iowa. Right.
Line moved -8 to -7 on Mrq. Right.
Line moved -11 to -11' on GA Tech. wrong.
Line moved -9' to -9 on tx.Tech. Right. barely.

i would say in the case of the duke game that is about looking for a middle

in the case of some of the lower profile games that is more than likely guys betting into a soft number

knowing the difference and when to do what, its all part of being 'sharp'

funny thing is the only time we got a lot of discussion going on opening numbers is in the NFL, and its one of the worst sports to try and profit from

Yes, it's sharp money, IMO, at the least it's money from those that wanna be considered sharp, in their own minds.

Betting early to get a middle/scalp by anticipating a line move is sharp, even if you expect 1st bet to lose. Buying -108, while expecting to be able to get +115 on other side some hours later ... IS SHARP !

The sharpest bet their NFL when lines come out, maybe overbet it, knowing more often than not their position will provide a better position some days later, same with hoops, MLB , etc.

A true square doesn't jump the earliest line, he waits while the favorite becomes more of a favorite, and the over rises.

Genuine sharps trust their numbers and intuition and back it with $$$., then they let the chips fall wherever they may land. This helps the books determine a real line. ***** books wait until this daily ( nightly, really !) proceedure has settled on a more stable number.

I wish sportsbooks would have market orders on pointspreeds, like they do for the stock market, Where you tell the book to place a bet if it gets to a certain number. That way you can hit the overnight line, and not have to watch the Don Best screen all day waiting for the line to move. I bet pinnacle would love to do this. It would be a great way to balance the action, knowing what kind of money you will get on a side before you move the line.

that would be good choptalk.

I also make a lot of stupid bets becuase I get sick of checking for line moves, itd be nice to just say if its this price give it to me if not no action. and then give you an account history for it.

and account historys need to be bigger. it be nice if everything went back 2 years. spend the extra 10 bucks and get more storage you bookies :bite1:

Sounds like you want tradesports or Betfair ( BF not US friendly). There's a thread in Newbies I'll link it in a new thread.

Im not a middler for the very reason you stated. I dont have the patience or time to watch a screen all day. But if they alowed market orders, I would watch the lines as they come out, hit the games I like the most, then I would place a market order 2 points in the direction that I think the public will go, and do this for every single bet. I already have a play a feel strong on with the original bet, and I also have a 2 point middle if the line hits my GTC market order. Like I said this would benafit the books because they would have some insight on where the money is going if they move the line one way or another.

What a GREAT thread. Choptalk, I've not been using the sites that DougJ is talking about, so I don't know. But your idea IS GENIUS. THE BOOKS WOULD love it and the players would love it!!! Really...I think...unless the books found that ONLY the sharpies did that...OK...I don't really know if the books would love it or not....I would have to think the economics of this one out while really sober. HOWEVER, Choptalk...that is still a GENIUS IDEA!!

RobFunk, thanks for giving me some props. I know you and I are sympatico since you tried that damn frog site!! LOL Take care and let's kick em in the pants tomorrow!! And..we KNOW you are a sharp! tulsa

P.S. I'll find my frog
