My nominee:

Dave Christensen, OC Missouri (see bio and great write-up)

With the right kind of offer, he'd be a classy move up for the Husky program that's been in the dumps ever since '03 after Neuheisel was canned for no good reason.

He's an Everett, Washington native boy who's made quite a name for himself concocting Missouri's dominating offense. Perhaps it's time for Dave to go back to his roots.

Pags,

Just wondering if you know the story about Mike Price leaving WSU. I'm also wondering if he will ever move back home to the Seattle area. It's surprising how many coaches and assistant coaches hail from the Seattle area or thereabouts. There be plenty of guys who have made it somewhere else and may wish to return to their roots. Dave Christensen was just an example. FWIW, Mike Price is another and so is Dennis Erickson.

I think Kiffin would be in way over his head at UW.

He'd be a fool to leave Boise unless he gets at least 2.5 million a year. For that matter, I'd really like to see UW's athletic department get squeezed good. Make those fanatical screaming alums ante up. What they want up there is no bargain basement special. It's gonna cost them.

Maybe if WinOne sees this he can answer. He's all connected up in Texas and in the Southwest I do believe and he's met some of these guys... gets himself in the way of some interesting rumors at times. I think he's also got an ear to the ground... possibly.

I actually have zero idea on how much they would even want these guys or if they are qualified yet but what do you guys think of..

Gus Malzahn and Al Golden

How long until they are head coaches?

Darrell Royal coached one year at Washington before he got the Texas job(1957). Maybe Muschamp is next?

Why would a "top coaching candidate" want to go to UW?

UW is AT BEST a middle of the road program in the PAC-10 (or Strong-1 Weak-9)

THey have a good QB.....but how can you recruit there?

Oregon has the best facilities in the world......USC is down the coast....granted no one wants to go anywhere near Pullman and even Corvalis for that matter......Arizona hasn't been good in 15+years and Arizona St underachieves every year, but it is STILL THE STATE OF ARIZONA! UCLA is in LA for crying out loud....

They will hire a hot shot coordinator....

There are a couple of names that you can rule out.

First is Jim Mora Jr. - That ship sailed when the seahawks named him their coach to replace Holmgren when he goes into retirement next year.

Second is Mike Price - Not only is he underperforming at UTEP right now but there are many influential husky alumni that couldn't stomach him as the choice.

I hear a lot of stuff, most huskies are dreaming about getting Pinkel from Missouri but I don't see him leaving to come into that mess. I think Kiffin will be in the mix and other cast offs that are looking for a job after this year. I wonder if they take a run at hot shot coordinator though. Most people I talk to don't want to take that chance, they want someone with HC experience.

I also think many husky fans have an overinflated sense of how attractive this job is. This is going to be a difficult hire. Whoever takes that job will be walking into a complete overhaul situtation. With subpar facilities, stadium, players and zero fan enthusiasm. Don James shadow still looms large over this program and I find it interesting that the huskies did not hire the person whom he recommended for the AD job, Bob Stull. It shows they want to turn the page but it will not be easy. One thing that you can count on however is that the person that they do end up hiring will have lots of energy be good with the press. The exact opposite of paint dry Tye.

If they get rid of Ty Willingham that would be pretty racist ask ND when they realized he was not the right coach and his recruiting had sank to the bottom they fired him and got called racist.
