Honestly I never send more than a dime to any I have ever used. I actually try to deposit exactly what I need for the wager I want to place. I do not need my money sitting there so someone can just lift it. Makes me nervous and if I get taken for a g note, I can still live with it. I'd be pissed off of course but it wouldn't ruin my life. I question anyone that sends 3,4,5 dimes to any of them. You could wake up the next day and see a "closed by the department of justice" screen when you log in...then your screwed. Personally if I found a reliable person near me that is ideal. I just do not go to bars and I do not mingle with a shit ton of people locally to me cause I work like a maniac. You also have to watch out for locals using pph skins that are using free 2 week trials. That's a entire mess in itself. Sending money offshore is never secure. Remember that.

Bank sites have https & padlock security on their login pages. I've never seen a sportsbook with those.

Banks also advertize that they guarantee your funds in case they are stolen or you are hacked.

Taking screenshots of all your wagers & new balances may provide a degree of security with online sportsbooks.

What else can you do, besides using those books that have a proven history?

The big ones are secure with your money because it's not like a bank account. The reason why banks are so difficult is because the web of transactions they have. Sportsbooks are just like any commerce site. If someone jacks your sports book account, it's very easy for them to see and track where the transaction came from and what user did it. It's nothing like banks and the biggest security concern is whether they pay you and if you can cash or get the money somehow. Or if your credit card information is insecure. Same problem all sites have. But software wise there's nothing scary there.

Why do banks have https & padlock security while sportsbook don't?

Even some email servers have what the banks do & sportsbooks don't.

Many financial "web transaction" sites online also have this, i.e. what sportsbooks are lacking, as per the above.

Why are sportsbooks so far behind the times? You'ld trust them like a bank, with large deposits?

I'd trust them with a few loonies that are disposable income to play with purely for fun, not serious profit.
