why do so many boxers end up busted????

nature of the beast...or sport.........most of the best in boxing grew up poor...and just couldnt handle the financial success and dramatic change in lifestyle....(or had managers that helped thier financial downfall...)

mike tyson or roberto duran could both be posterchilds for boxing legends that went broke........

1. sugar ray leonard
2. george foreman
3. holyfield
4. ali

are some of the few that have pretty much handled thier finances well.....and life in general well.....jmo

Don't forget manager gets 33.3 percent. trainer about 10 percent. cut man 5 percent or flat fee. Promotor gets a cut. Plus that hangers on they support. I went to see Tim Witherspoon after a fight and he told me he just ordered 13 refrigerators for friends

Benitez was one to never get hit. Incredible head movement. I think drugs fried his brain as much as anything. He did start taking punishment when his skills were shot his last several fights.

Thanks SP!

Salud the "Hawaiian Punch" lives on the same part of the Island I do and I hear he is a good guy. When he lost to Frankie Duarte in 1988 during a Forum boxing tournament I thought he might not go far but he did win a world title.

Ganigan is a mess hooked on ice and always fighting with the police who are called to his house but he does have a huge painting of himself on the wall from his boxing hey day.
