Does anyone who`s taking Tampa Bay not buy the half point? I have never left a line at 2.5 if I was taking the points....Is there any logic in not buying the half point?

A lot depends on how much the half point costs. Naturally in times past if you could take plus 3 -120 you do it. Unfortunately, those days are over. The most I would go is plus 3 -130, if at all. In this case there are still 3s around. Assuming you cannot find one, laying an extra 25 cents over the original dime juice is going to kill you in the long run. IMO. My rule of thumb is never lay 3.5, or take 2.5. Always try to lay 2.5, or take 3.5. If you cannot do any of those, lay or take 3 minus 110 and take your chance with a push. Plus 2.5 is in my mind worthless, and you would be better off playing the game at pick on the money line. I am talking NFL only here.

And just in case there wasn't any +3's out there, to answer your question of whether it is smart to buy a half point on the 2.5.

Well, buying the half pt for 20 cents gets you NO advantage whatsoever. Mathematically, +2.5 -110 is EXACTLY equivalent to +3 -130. So don't think you are gaining anything here, cause you are not.

Don't know where you guys are seeing all these +3 -110's out there.

I found one today and got down but looks like everyone is either at -2.5 -120 or + 3 -120 or worse.

. count for line=2.5
307 records
. count for line=2.5 .and. wlpline='C'
159 records
. count for line=2.5 .and. wlpline='N'
148 records
. count for line=2.5 .and. wlpline='N' .AND. PAGST-PFOR=3
24 records

307 times the line was +2.5 since 1982
the dogs went 159-148
24 times dogs lost by 3 pts, so if you buy the half point your record would be 159-124-24

Unless it lands on the 3, then you are certainly gaining an advantage!

SG lets suppose you jumped TB +3 and you bought a point tB +4, and now you have shops with Philly at - 2 1/2, why not by the point down to -1 1/2, if it lands on 2, 3 ,you win both side and 4 , you win/push. Of course you have to feel good about the score landing on the number.

For Instance, tonight my gut says TB wins outright but I don't know or care so my bet is this, because I want a little something going or I won't watch the game. My Play: Philli -142 ML and when TB drops before game time I'll buy them to +4! All I want is Philly to win by 1 -4, I like my chances!

True three flat has disappeared, I see Pinny has the Bucs at +3 -120. Of course if you like the favorite they are using Eagles -3 +110.

Eric,

I don't recommend buying points, but if you are gonna but on/off the 3, never do more than a half point.

Makes no sense to buy 3.5 to 4.

PS, All I am doing is shooting for the middle, another -10 does not bother me especially 3 1/2 to 4, I want that 4! I just feel this game will be close tonight, and I am willing to risk the juice for the middle!

Eric baby, what are you trying to do kid, commission yourself to death? You want to buy a full point to the 4, then buy 2 half pts from 2.5 to 1.5?? You'd be laying something like 40 cents one way, and 30 cents the other way. So basically, you'd be getting something like 2.5 to 1 odds in hoping the game lands on 2,3 or 4.. Very bad decision eric. You won't last out there too long if you do this often eric. The worse part of your whole theory is buying 1 pt from 2.5 to 1.5. Is this really necessary? Paying an extra 20 cents in vig to hope the game lands on 2.. NOT GOOD eric. Be careful..

Sick Gambler is dead on the money...

A very sharp man told me that there are no longer any football middlers left in Vegas...

They have all gone broke!

And that's the truth!

Hoops is an entirely different story...

You may be right, Shrink, but I noticed you didn't include the Net in that comment - very shrewd

Guys, I know its not the smartest thing to do but I like this game to be close and I think Philly will pull it out of their ass, I don't have an opinion about either team to much media hype, so this is my shot for tonight. You guys can say "I told you so " tomorrow!

My Play: Philli -142 and TB +4(-145) so let it be written.

Gl to all tonight.

Sorry about the interruption gentlemen, couldn't help my self from throwing a plug out there. Check out the numbers we got for MNF in our Reduced Juice Promo:

T.B. +2½ +103, could become a 3dog-17
Eagles -2½ -117

Hey, 3 cents ARE 3 cents.

Besides, since the numbers are OFF of the DB screen, there's only one way to find out when they show the most value; isn't there fine people?
