Rondo will not play again for Mavericks

DALLAS - Dallas guard Rajon Rondo most likely have played his final game for the Mavericks.
Rondo only played 10 lackluster minutes in the Mavericks’ 111-99 loss in Game 2 of the NBA first-round playoffs in Houston on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, coach Rick Carlisle said Rondo hurt his back in the first quarter while trying to take a charge.
When asked if he expects Rondo to return to the team, Carlisle said, “No. I don’t.”
Rondo, who did not speak to the media after the game, is a free agent when the season ends.
J. J. Barea replaced Rondo with 6:54 remaining in the first quarter.
Rondo picked up two fouls late in the second quarter in a 7-second span. Then he went to the bench for the rest of the game with 11:26 remaining in the third quarter after he picked up his third and fourth fouls, and a technical foul.
On Tuesday night, Carlisle said it was his decision to finish the remainder of the game with Barea and Raymond Felton at point guard rather than bring back Rondo and see what he had left in the tank.
Rondo, who was acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Boston Celtics on Dec. 18, scored 4 points on 2-of-4 shots.
