Needless to say (as usual), it obviously has issues that they haven't resolved yet.
You could just buy an XP box and then reformat it & install Win2k if you want. Win2k is so much "lighter" (faster) than XP, it's not even funny. You can expect Longhorn to be even "fatter" (slower).....it's all part of the Microsoft\Intel partnership to force all the older hardware into the trash can.

I'm just a home user. That sounds like it's for some business use. Guess I'll wait for whatever the next Operating System that HP puts in their computers after XP. I only want a preinstalled OS.
I thought whatever they come up with after the XP problems would be good, at least it's taking a while so that's probably a good thing. Get the damm kinks out first so that they don't have you download "patches" every other week.

It looks to me, after sitting back and digesting the body of text, that it is an attempt at another Microsoft monopoly. If it only runs trusted applications from trusted vendors. It only allows trusted files to be transferred to trusted sites. It shuts down applications it doesn't like. I am not throwing away thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of functioning software to buy "approved" editions so my communications will still work effectively. Looks like an alternative OS will be solicited on my part.

I think Vista is coming out on a DVD only. Chalk up another move to push the hardware sales. I'm sure the "trusted application" racket is Micro$ofts way of controlling the software vendors.
