Nope, you can buy a vest for $50-100 and voila.I'm seeing more and more of these things out and about. Starting to think a lot of people are taking advantage of this. There is no registry so no way to track who is legitimately using them for a disability etc.
Those dogs you see people pushing in strollers or carrying in their purse are NOT service dogs. They are companion dogs who they claim are service dogs. The service dogs have a clear, distinct harness informing you of what type of service dog they are as required by the law. Starbucks has a policy that states employees cannot ask to see the paperwork for any service animal. That means if the customer says its a service dog, when it's clearly not, you can not do anything about it. People can buy a fake certificate online and call if a service dog, but it's not the same paper work they get from whatever agency that issues them. I hope someone's dog bites me at Starbucks, because I would sue the shit out of that company.
And like I stated, you can buy said harness for $50-$100. Anyone can. There are 3 for $45 each used on my local Craigslist now. Those dogs you see people pushing in strollers or carrying in their purse are NOT service dogs.
