Stackhouse arrested and charged with assault on woman

ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. (AP) -- Washington Wizards guard Jerry Stackhouse was arrested and charged with assault Sunday after he was accused of grabbing a woman at a house he was renting.

Stackhouse, 28, was renting the house near the North Carolina coast, according to a statement from Atlantic Beach Police Chief Scott Kilpatrick.

Stackhouse was told by a female employee of the property manager that he and his guests had to leave around 2:30 p.m., but he apparently believed he had rented it until Monday, Kilpatrick said.

He attempted to grab the lease from the woman, but grabbed her instead, Kilpatrick said.

She felt threatened and went to the magistrate's office to take out a warrant, police said.

Stackhouse surrendered to police -- accompanied by an attorney -- and was released on $2,000 bond.

Stackhouse, who averaged 21.5 points last season, agreed to a two-year contract extension worth about $18 million with the Wizards last month.

What percentage of male professional athletes are accused of some form of sexual assault per year?

I would lay small chalk that a serious look for answers to the above two questions would yield a higher overall percentage for men in general. The difference is, when some schmoe who busses tables at a Denny's in Green Bay cops a feel on a waitress, it doesn't make front page national news.

can stackhouse sue this woman for defamation of character??? this is ridiculous from my view. This was not a sexual assault..it was just an accidental assault.

u think it would even go to court??? the only people who would favor against Jstack would be those feminist types.

A defense would be it was an accident or even the incident was not an incident at all. His attorney would probably go that route....

Unless there is other things I don't know about, then Jstack is being taking advantage of by his status as a black male nba basketball player.

I cant help to wonder how much of these off court troubles have something to do with the way players are allowed to attack each other on the court. Sure they get a fine or suspension, but do they care? Not much.

Any violent act by a player in a game should result in immediate season long suspension, therefore conditioning these rich kids that this conduct is not acceptable at any time.
