Given his Muslim roots (not his religion which is Christian) is he going to be more tolerant of the Arab/Muslim countries in the U.S. or will he stand pat w/the current U.S. policy on Israel?

Very scary question........I'm not sure I want to know the answer. Could that be what Biden was referring to a few weeks ago?

Terrifying times ahead boys. Get out your Bob Dylan cd's.

His stance on israel will be similar to the last 4 or 5 presidents which is to back israel as our strongest ally in that region. However, i think he will do a better job of "making nice" to the surrounding arab countries by not coming off as anti-arab.

I am a jew that is 100 percent behind israel, but a President who wishes to broker peace in a region needs to come off as fair in discussions. And even if Obama is not fair and still favors israel, the appearance of fairness will help move things along.

Lets remember that Obama is a black man with a muslim name and he just won an election against a white war hero. He is a lot smarter than a lot of people give him credit for.

And lets also remember that he was the editor of the harvard law review. i can imagine the intelligence and dedication it took to achieve this position and it is truly amazing.

i did not support many of BO's policies and did not vote for him, but i beleive he is leaps and bounds more intelligent than john mccain and sarah palin and i do think the president of the united states should be highly educated and scholarly.

Don't be fooled. Only liberal secular Jews voted for him. There's such a thing, however, as conservative and orthodox Jews (who the media will never show) and together with Evangelicals, the three groups work in unison every day to fight for Israel's right to existence.

That being said, I can only pray that Obama will be true to his word about Israel, but only time will tell. What I can say, without a shadow of the doubt, is that Iran is absolutely licking its lips thinking they have a push-over in this president elect.

Except for Senator Joe Lieberman and his wife.

And my various in law family members who range from Conservative to Orthodox to Hassidic

But other than all of them....sure.

As for the original question, I am confident that President Obama's "stance on Israel" will be little different than his predecessors because at the moment there's no compelling reason for it to be otherwise.

Stop drinking the Kool-Aid. The world is not coming to an end.

If you want to see terrifying, look at what the village idiot has done to our economy over the last couple years.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Obama, but I am afraid of him, especially if he gets his way with Congress. What has Bush done to the economy? What could he have done to prevent it?
