James Franklin enters his third year with a 14-12 record. He has changed coordinators
on both side of the ball, will have a new quarterback and much of his formidable defensive
line has been gutted for the coming season. Problems could hit Franklin early as they play
at Pittsburgh and Temple who beat them down 27-10 last year before opening the Big Ten
slate at Michigan in September. Three of their home games are Ohio State, Iowa and Michigan
State. Minnesota and Maryland aren't gimmies...neither are trips to Indiana and Rutgers
in November. The offense ranked 105th nationally last season and nine of the same players
return.

I may be off base but this looks like a 6-6 team to me. Where am I wrong?

Addition by subtraction. Hackenberg was not as billed and didnt seem to get along with Franklin, and certainly didnt fit the hybrid O they ran. I like the new OC they brought in. He had a chance to refine himself at Fordham, and I hear they have the perfect fit at qb for the offense. They also have a new Oline coach, so they could take some lumps, but the offense they will run has a nasty playaction element to it, so I can see them surprising some teams too.

Nope. They are getting pretty close to dumpster fire territory if he doesn't turn things around quick. And now Franklin is starting to accuse other big ten teams of negatively recruiting them. But the funny thing about that is ive seen a couple prospects come forward and say they have talked with OSU, MSU, Michigan and PSU and the only team that negatively recruited at all was PSU.

When many were pumping his vanderbilt "successes", I was saying what about Ksate and his misuse of an nfl qb. Dejavu at PSU. However, I like the upgrade at OC and they are finally getting the roster numbers back. Given the assistant changes and circumtances, I think he's good for a stay of execution.They win 8.

RunLee, I was one of those pumping Franklin for the job he did at Vanderbilt. One of the best jobs
in the SEC by a coach in many years when you consider VANDERBILT and their record.

Now, at Penn State he has been a disappointment for many for not turning the program
around more quickly like at Vandy. I don't know why...don't pretend to. Penn State has
their on demons and/or Franklin is a mismatch for the school. I still say what he accomplished
at fucken Vanderbilt was AMAZING! Look at the donkey who replaced him..........

Nice to see someone gets it! Addition by subtraction! My words exactly all during the draft season. Penn State will be just fine.
