Purchasing another inexpensive stock car to rub and bump with on Saturday nights. Replacing the rush and risk with another form of rush and risk.
A rush and risk that would also eat up all of my time and some of my finances with the realistic hope of profit on an occasional given night but only the illusion of long term financial success would and has allowed me to quit once.
Yes I could and have given up gambling for the rush of taking the green flag. It is quite addictive and is the best and least dangerous replacement addiction I have found.
It is easy to quit gambling if that is truly what one has done in entering this endeavor. My blown engine last year was in fact what I called then and now a bad beat. Rather than adding to the money already spent, I chose to sell the trailer and car and use the money to post up again. At times I certainly have questioned that decision though financially it was the right one.
The characters you meet in the pits of a small time southern track are well...unique in their own right and while most are quality good ole' boys and gals, they could probably be categorized as a deviant subculture in purely sociological terms. Being a miscreant by nature that part of the sport was quite rewarding to me as well.

One of them is a well known deadbeat book here. The other 2 I'd just as soon keep to myself. I am working with them to get paid ever so slowly, and I don't feel that posting about them will do anything but cause a huge run on their already meager holdings. I'd rather email someone in authority at RX about the situation and keep it quiet, if the situation deteriorates further.
