Eek:
Mr Huckabee ... what a Great "Man of God"
Little Rock, Ark --
As governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee aggressively pushed for the early release of a convicted rapist despite being warned by numerous women that the convict had sexually assaulted them or their family members, and would likely strike again. The convict went on to rape and murder at least one other woman.
Confidential Arkansas state government records, including letters from these women, revealed publicly for the first time, directly contradict the version of events now being put forward by Huckabee.
While on the campaign trail, Huckabee has claimed that he supported the 1999 release of Wayne Dumond because, at the time, he had no good reason to believe that the man represented a further threat to the public.
Thanks to Huckabee's intervention, conducted in concert with a right-wing tabloid campaign on Dumond's behalf, Dumond was let out of prison 25 years before his sentence would have ended.

Mike Huckabee Hard Drive Scandal
http://www.whitecivilrights.com/mike-huckabee-hard-drive-scandal_1054.html
Just before leaving office as governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee spent $500,000 of state emergency funds to destroy hard drives used by his administration. Why hasn’t the media raised a red flag over this obvious scandal?
It seems every week, another Mike Huckabee scandal leaks ou
t. First there was his “Open Borders” policy as governor of Arkansas and the HUGE last minute flip-flop, he performed, to appear “tough on illegals” just before the primary elections. Then there was the Wayne DuMond scandal, in which Huckabee pressured parole board members to release a convicted rapist, Wayne DuMond. Huckabee has denied pressuring the parole board, but members of that board have contradicted Huckabee’s claims. Also, there’s a letter from Huckabee to DuMond stating that Huckabee wanted DuMond out of prison. DuMond raped and killed two women after being released from prison.
Then there was
the “Criminal Coddling” scandal, where it became known that Huckabee pardoned or commuted sentences for 1,033 criminals. In contrast, some “tough on crime” governors give out ZERO pardons and commutations. Then there was the “DUI pay-off” scandal, in which a millionaire paid Huckabee $10,000 to have his sentence commuted for a multiple DUI offense. And the “Huckabee dog-killing scandal and cover-up” in which Huckabee’s cretinous offspring, David Huckabee, killed a dog at a boy scout camp because it was emaciated and a little bit mangy. Mike Huckabee pressured police not to investigate this as an animal cruelty case and fired one official over resisting Huckabee’s demands.

BREAKING: Huckabee Scandal
Wed Jan 30, 2008 at 05:25:53 AM PDT
You probably haven't heard of the Dallas-based
Trinity Foundation, but might be familiar with some of their work.
The Daily Show's classic "
God Stuff" segment with
Joe Bob Briggs (a.k.a., John Bloom) was their brainchild. They also publish
the Wittenburg Door: "pretty much the world's only religious satire magazine." They live in a kibbutz in one of the roughest neighborhoods in East Dallas, routinely taking in the homeless. But what they are most famous for is their (often sub rosa) exposes of televangelists like Benny Hinn, Paul Crouch, and the ubiquitous Kenneth Copeland.
Most of the hypocrisy they uncover is just plain funny, like the report in the Los Angeles Times that TBN founder Paul Crouch was (allegedly) having sexual relations with a former drug addict working at the station --
who also happened to be male. But occasionally, they come across a diamond in the rough.
Looks like they've got the Huckster in a bit of a bother...
<!-- polls come after this -->
This story is just breaking, and could really use some legs. (It's a press release by Ole and the guys, and intended for wide dissemination; I used to help them out with investigations back in the day.) The bottom line here is that Charles Grassley is breathing down Copeland's neck with his investigation of televangelists who turn their ministries into ATM machines (on a
MUCH lighter note, check out
Robert "Tootin'" Tilton); the Huckster ran to Copeland for a little cash, and he just happened to be in the market for a little protection.
Republican hopeful Mike Huckabee reached out to a questionable funding source this week. Texas televangelist Kenneth Copeland, one of the targets of a Senate Finance Committee investigation into the funding and governance of "prosperity gospel" ministries.
At Copeland€'s annual by-invitation-only Minister's Conference at his Newark, Texas, headquarters Jan. 23, Copeland received a call during the meeting from Huckabee requesting emergency financing. According Doug Wead, former Bush family evangelical adviser, Copeland and his supporters at the conference raised $111,000 in cash for Huckabee, with about a million dollars in pledged donations, after he temporarily adjourned the conference and then reconvened the group as a "private meeting."
Wead relayed a report in his blog from a source at the meeting that "Last night [Jan. 23] the Governor called his friend in the middle of a conference and Copeland, carefully observing all the laws governing non profits, as a private citizen, re-convened a private meeting, turned to his friends and raised a few million dollars for Huckabee." (See "
Mike Huckabee's Big Mistake")
According to video clips of the conference obtained by Trinity Foundation, an investigative watchdog group in Dallas, Copeland revealed that Huckabee had pledged his total support to Copeland's ministry while dismissing the Senate investigation.
Video clips are
here(the second clip is on Huckabee -- transcribed by them below).
"[Huckabee told me] Why should I stand with them and not stand with you? They've only got 11 per cent approval rating.' And then he said, 'Kenneth Copeland, I will stand with you.' He said, 'You're trying to get prosperity to the people and they're trying to take it away from 'em.' He said, 'I will stand with you any time, anywhere, on any issue.' That settled that right there. I said, 'Yeah, that's my man! That's my man, right there.'"
The Huckster's association with Copeland might just put the final nail in the coffin of his presidential aspirations. Those who delight in oppo research really ought to know.

Huckabee Defended Ethics Commission's 14 Complaints, Five Resulted in Violations. The Ethics Commission addressed 14 complaints against Mike Huckabee during his political career. Five resulted in findings that he violated ethics guidelines. [Associated Press, 11/23/06]
Huckabee Defended Tax Hikes. Governor Huckabee had to rebut criticisms from "fiscally responsible" Republican groups such as the Cato Institute and the Club for Growth, that during his tenure as Governor he raised taxes. On the defensive, Huckabee acknowledged that any tax increases were for important public purposes, and that he cut other taxes. [New York Times, 1/29/07]

Former Arkansas governor and Southern Baptist minister Mike Huckabee has a 26-year-old son named David who has made his way into the media. David could be considered a problem child. Battling with an obesity problem for most of his life that appears worse than his father's (who notoriously shed 110 pounds and ironically speaks out against childhood obesity), David began getting into trouble at a young age.
At just 17 years old, David was alleged to be involved in the hanging of a stray dog at a Boy Scout camp in 1998 (some sources say the dog's throat was also slit and he was pelted with stones), which led to his dismissal as a counselor at Camp Pioneer in Hatfield, Arkansas. Yet, despite an outcry by a national animal rights group, the state police never granted to the request to investigate the incident. John Bailey, the director of Arkansas state police, told Newsweek that Governor Huckabee's chief of staff and personal lawyer both leaned on him to write a letter officially denying the local prosecutor's request.
In December of 2001, David was slapped with fines for running two businesses in Jonesboro, Arkansas without a license. After the Arkansas State University Herald picked up the story, he eventually paid the city collector with 6,250 pennies in a bag.
In April of this year, David Huckabee, now 26, was arrested for attempting to board an airplane with a handgun a Little Rock National Airport. After being released from Pulaski County Jail, David called it "a silly mistake." It was a Glock with a clip in it, and Huckabee claimed he forgot it was in his bag. There were eight live rounds in the clip but no bullet in the chamber. He pleaded guilty.
If you ask me, the offspring of a candidate seeking to lead our entire nation is absolutely relevant. And with a child that is questionably violent and misguided - is it worth taking that chance?
