Fake tree, precut or go out and cut it down yourself?

I went out and cut it down myself with the family yesterday and man what a debacle. Wife's idea of course, Sunday before football comes on.

Not only was it muddy out but I had to carry the tree about a 1/4 mile up hill to pay for it. $65 by the way. Guy bails it and ties it down to my suv and it damn near blew off driving home. It was hanging halfway off. Had to pull over on the highway to re-tie it down.

Then I wake up this morning and it feels like my side has been hit with a baseball bat from carrying the tree for so long. :ohno:

Tis the season.

Thats steep depending on the size. Plus I think cutting it down yourself should be cheaper since your taking the work out of the nursery.

We get pretty cheap trees in New England depending on where you go. I paid $35 for a pre-cut 7 footer. Its a typical Balsam from Canada where a lot of trees come from around here.

My in-Laws are in VT so most years we cut one down up there but my family stayed home for Thanksgiving. My tree has been up for 10 days.

I've got a fake tree that already has the strands of lights attached which makes for easy undecorating , but ive been thinking of getting a real tree this year (prolly a fraser fir).

If i do go real it will be pre cut , i dont care anything about cutting it myself. ... bah humbug to that.

No tree, instead there's a pole. Requires no decoration. I find tinsel very distracting.

we had real trees for something like 28 years, purchased from local nursery. But Huskygal purchased one of those expensive pre-lit trees that actually feel real two or three years ago

this is our 3rd or 4th season with it, and today I have to pull out an old string of lights and insert a new string. That shit's going to be more time consuming than simply stringing a whole tree

when researching on line, I learned a lot of people are having the same issue with GE Pre-Lit trees (fuck them)

PS: Merry Christmas

Full lumberjack mode. Always get a concolor fir because the wife likes the smell.

Prelit.
Bought my second one a few days ago. My first one lasted probably 8 or more years.

3 Pieces, plugged it in and it looks great

Real tree last 3 years.

Stopped at Tree Lot last weekend and they wanted close to $100 for the size trees we wanted.

Drove 1 minute further to Lowe's, where someone else told us they got theirs, and they were only half that price for even nicer trees...
