I would encourage my kids to play every sport. Its not like you are choosing a sport and expecting him to go pro in it. Sports are good character builders and teach discipline for most. There is a reason alot of top companies prefer to hire ex-athletes and I'm not talking about the dumbed down ESPN hiring former jocks. I am talking about the 3rd string safety at Virginia who never started a game getting a job at Stryker Orthopedic.
I see kids today never playing sports. On a Saturday morning, I often see a couple kids walking beside each other looking down playing some game or messing with their phone. As a kid, if it was sunny out and sometimes even if it wasn't, it was always baseball, basketball, football and foootball was always tackle. At night, it would be all night Nintendo session playing Tecmo Bowl.
