Hey guys, i'm new to the board and i was curious to hear what u guys think i should do with my new online sports betting account. I deposited a fairly low amount of money ($120), so I'm thinking only $5 per play on baseball and hoops. Would any of you advise betting more??
Also, who would you guys consider to be the best baseball cappers in your baseball forum?? Need some help with the bats ya know what i mean...Thanks for your help

How much money do you make? A stake that small doesn't need to be protected, you can bet more. I presume if you were to lose it you wouldn't have too much trouble coming up with another stake in the future. Best way to think about it is figure out what amount of money on a game would really make you sweat. Then bet under that amount. As a second step, figure out how much disposable income you earn a year. Don't dedicate more than 10% of that to a sports betting bankroll to start out.

zmac lets make you some money in NBA. Just lurk in the basketball forum hour before game time and see what's happening. If you don't decide by then, look into Best Bet thread and follow mgk or wildemu. If you don't like thier plays... check out Ballbreaker. If im confusing you press 1.

You have to realize, I do not cap basketball, its all a gut feeling type thing for me. With that being said if I had to bet, I would take Seatle.

If you fade me you have a 70% chance of winning.:lolBIG:

it doesnt matter what your bankroll is.you have to set your mentallity on money management whether its 120 bux or 10 dimes.being disciplined in money management is your most important factor.bet 5% of your bankroll for each wager and go with that.as you win your bankroll goes up and your 5 dollar wagers become 10 and so on.good luck.3 most important things to a successful gambler is:

1. find the best line for the game you wish to wager.
2. very very disciplined money management.
3. patience..never chase your losses.

ZMAC..bet within your means you winning 5$ on a bet could be all you need for your hobby.....personally I would at least bet 25$ you will win slightly less then that if your bet cashes so use a book like Pinny that has reduced juice, you need to save that wherever you can being a small bettor

good luck

zmac,

Welcome to TheRx!!!

While there have been a number of funny and good responses, the best one by far is that from Lakersfan4life...

I have seen many sharp handicappers go down in flames due to poor money management...

Never go more than 5% of your bankroll even if the entire world tells you the game is a lock...

A perfect example happened to me last week when I had plus 5 on the Wizzards before it was announced that Shaq wouldn't play.

The Game closes at 1, while I am getting 5!!!

I am a HUGE FAVORITE to win my bet (above 63% to 37 % for ME)...

Wizzards lose by 7...

I rest my case...

In all honesty $120 is not going to get you much but a little excitement or a lot of heartache.

If you are looking to do it for awhile and spend some time at it. Then go ahead and bet 5 bux a game until the account goes empty. If you really are looking to make money, do something else.

Or go play poker somewhere.

Buts odds are you with that little amount of money you will end up where most do...$0.00.

I disagree with this. Sometimes you have to take a shot. Your gut will usually tell you when this is, but you shouldn't follow an idea that you should never bet more than 5% of your bankroll. Certain circumstances call for more of a %.

wantitall,

if he sticks to good money management, there is no reason he cant win. ive seen people start with $50 and take it over a couple dimes.

Welcome zmac, Contrary to what I have heard, I have as much fun wagering $10 as I do $1000.
