What Is The Purpose Of The Ignore Button?

if you place someone on your ignore list.would it not be sensible that the user would not be able to post things in your thread?otherwise what good does it do to place that user on your list?

most times i would think that the only reason you would even put someone on your list is because they are harassing you,but if they are allowed to post in your thread anyway it makes absolutely no sense.

other forums also have this feature (ignore list) but the difference between them and therx is that therx still allows poster to post in your thread but it just don't show the message.in other words it is a waste of a feature in my opinion

Im pretty sure if you put someone on ignore, you wont be able to see their posts anymore, but they can still post and everyone else can still see their posts.

Ive never had occasion to use it myself.
