i see where al queda took responsibility for a 2nd bombing of a holy shiite mosque. last time, this predictably caused bloodshed.

how does a group who worships the koran and praises allah do such a thing? does it not disrespect their religion to bomb this site again and again? please educate me.:WTF:

i am trying to understand the islamic faith which is centered around peace and love.do you know the answer?

According to the Koran, suicide condemns you to die the same death over and over (no salvation - much like Sisyfus)

It's only in recent decades that certain radicals within Islam have twisted the words of their religion to absolve suicide bombers if somehow their act is commited "to defend Islam" or in an act of defense in war.

I don't know many muslims, but the ones I do know believe in the old teachings. They believe suicide bombers are condemned for eternity and that there is never a justification (war or otherwise) for the taking of an innocent life. They've spoken out publically and have written letters to editors etc. Outside of that, they're at a loss as to what they can do to show they are not terrorirsts and no risk to their neighbors.

Christian terrorists in N. Ireland, Indonesia or Serbia didn't represent all of Christianity - but it's just another example of how religion dupes people into commiting the most unholy of acts at times.

excellent kt, you are very knowledgible. it must be so painful for muslims to see these atrocities. my nextdoor neighbor is muslim, and a nice guy. but i don't know him that well to broach this topic. i don't want to offend him.

I've come right out and said "I know it's got to be touchy, but can I ask you some questions" and just cut right to the chase.

One thing I learned is this. Many are frustrated being asked to essentially apologize for 911. To them, it's the same as asking a Christian in Mexico to apologize for the Serb atrocities comitted in Bosnia.

As far as blowing up Mosques -- some of these places are thousands of years old. For a person of faith, it has to be absolutely infuriating. Combine this with the fact that there is coordinated disinformation (propaganda) by the terrorists where they blame the coalition for these things, and it just adds to the mess and confusion.
