Long term what is the best way to play a scalp like this. Example you have 1 team -160, the other +167. You are limited to $1000 bet, what is the optimum way to play this scenario long term? Do you bet to make money regarldless of who wins or do you bet it so the money is made on the favorite only? Also you have no opinion on the game, scalp only.

Take enough +167 so that you got a synthetic moneyline bet on the fav, who is now -177/+167

EG, you laid -1600 to win 1000 at -160, if your normal unit size is $500, take 500 at +167.

You now are effectively risking 765 to win 500, which equates to a ML of -153 on a team thats -177.

If you can 24 cents to the good long term, you'll clean up.

i suppose i would just play it like this.

1600/1000
975/1628

take my 25 or 28 bucks... watch something else..

find a few hundred of those and you've had a fun baseball season.. no risk.

In the long run I've found it doesn't make much difference and the extra time to figure it out sometimes results in a lost opportunity.

A "synthetic moneyline bet"? That sounds sexy! What the heck does that mean anyway? Tell me more... :suomi:

I see that. You can also set it up so that's +99999 instead of -177. I was just curious about the "synthetic" term. I do this a lot. I had Illinois ML synthsized (that really does make it more exciting) to +140 for quite a bit instead of -150 or whatever it was.

Its a stock market term, you can create synthetic long/shorts using options.

Same thing applies to sports betting, you can create moneylines using two partially offsetting positions.:103631605

True, you can change the amounts to make whatever ML you want but waht good is getting + money when you only stand to make $25 tops.
