the APPOINTED dictator, George W Bush, signs the gambling bill and it goes into effect 6 months from now!

Im sure some of you will consider leaving the US, which country would be your number one choice and why?????

I guess United Kingdom would be one of the top choices since its tax-free.

Which countries are tax free as far gambling is concerned?

The clown in the white house is not smart enough to realize this is what he should do:

"And so, as of October 6, 2001, betting with legal U.K. bookmakers will now be tax-free for all U.K. citizens. Illegal betting will disappear, offshore betting will be irrelevant, and legal U.K. bookmakers will be marketing their long experience and credibility to the worldwide market. ....."

Moving to the UK would certainly make it easier to stop scoreboard-watching--the American games would be on in the middle of the night.

I suppose travel to Vegas more frequently! I live in Florida, and there are a couple of casino boats that go out on the ocean and have sports betting, so may have to resort to that.

I have zero interest in going to another country, as I imagine those who fervently enjoy their country would not want to leave theirs. I'll stay, bitch and moan if I'm forced to give it up, but there's a lot more important subjects to be concerned with for me - perceived quality of life, for one.

I nomiante Jazz's post for Poster of the Week.

I could not have said it better myself. Believe it or not, some people would prefer living here and give up gambling rather than move elsewhere so that I can continue.

I believe there will always be ways to transfer money back and forth to books Dante. The only problem I think there will be is it taking longer to get funds there, and especially receiving your funds is whats going to stink if we dont have the "instant" payment methods such as Neteller or WU.

yeah hache....that will be missed for sure. the phrase "instant" payments may turn into "we get your payments to you in 6 days or less or you get 50$ added to your account" will be a sad day

There's always next year, like in 75, 90-93, 99 &

This bill will only shift the sports betting business back to the locals. I have not used a local for 10 years, they are such a pain in the ass to deal with: limited hours,20 cent lines, biased lines when they know your betting patterns(pitchers).

I believe that this bill would not have passed had the books just stuck to sports betting. The problem is the on-line casino bullchit, people getting addicted to the internet and loosing their 401k plans betting on phoney games that I believe are rigged. No way I would play a game on line for real cash. Sports they have no control over.

The books are fuvking it up for themselves by getting greedy and going after the casino's pie. The legal gaming industry(US) is in favor of this bill because it brings the casino business back to them. Too much chance for fraud with on-line casinos too.

Lander: that may be fine for some gamblers, for whom gambling is their life, specifically on-line gambling. However, not only is this not true for me, I have family and friends of a lifetime here in the US, and at age 47 I'd have to be brain-damaged to leave based on not being able to gamble online. I prefer friends and family and of course the women I know to gambling, as well as a way of life I've known here. Things change, I deal with it, but to change my entire life to cope with this?? No, thank you.
