Easy for me

#1 College -
I could and think we've had an entire thread on this topic. Between choosing a bad major and the lifestyle I lived in College, It was easily the worst financial decision I have made.

#2 Sports Memorabilia
I worked at one of the power companies in the sports memorabilia world, and got a huge discount. Assumed I could "invest" in them. Wrong. Spent easily $6,000 on memorabilia, a lot of poor decisions. Some I've given away, sold a lot of it. Only big piece I have left is a Muhammad Ali, which sells for $3000 on his site. Tried to get rid of it for around $2,200 several times but not an easy sell.

#3 Investing / Savings.
This is pretty general. But When I was making really good money, I wish I invested / saved more instead of increased the level of my lifestyle. Although it was a fun couple of years. Poor decision for sure.

#1 sticking to my office job way too long
Should have quit my IT job way earlier than I did instead of wasting 50-60+ hrs per week at a job I didn't like anymore and hated towards the end. Would have been better of financially spending that time otherwise, relying on poker, sportsbetting, maybe some freelancing and other stuff and for sure would have enjoyed my time much more than sitting in an office writing source code waiting for the end of my workday.

#2 movies & other crap
during that time also bought ~2.000 movies (DVDs + BluRays) and a bunch of consumer electronics instead of saving a single penny...

#3 moving to Brazil
From a financial standpoint very bad decision, way more expensive in Florianopolis than in Costa Rica or Germany. But this one I def. don't regret, in pretty much every other aspect the best decision I made in my life

Yeah got cleaned out in the marraige, lost 70 grand on the house, and got stiffed for a couple hundred grand from the virulent Connecticut Stiff Virus that is still spreading I hear. I laugh about most of that stuff except for the stiffs. You never forget a stiff.

How is marriage a bad decision financially?

1) engagement ring (personally mine was around $15k)

2) wedding. Everything is overpriced and not worth it. We spend over $50k that could have gone to a home purchase down payment.
