So every now and then we get a thread about this and that athlete who is "feared" by the press and wont be often criticised when he f#$ks up or does something dastardly!!!! This week its revealed that "the great" Favre is giving his back up, the rookie Aron rodgers the cold shoulder and was quoted saying that it was not his job to groom the 5th round draft pick!!!

How arrogant and hypocritical can this louse be!!!! He starts out by talking about Jevon Walkers contract situation, a no no in all locker rooms around the league, inciting words like team spirit, integrity and all that, now all i can see is sports centre trying to paint that ugly selfish stunt by Bret Favre as something
"old school"

What a bunch of baloney!!!! Bret Favre is making an arse out of himself, and after all the fans and supporters of the packers have done for him, he decides to pay them back like this uh!!!!

Well what goes round does come round!!!!! Bret Favre will suffer through another mediocre season and even be luck to make the play offs...And i will be there to laugh at this arrogant bastard every sunday when he is on TV whinning about this and that loss or explaining away some of the dumb interceptions he threw for that game!!!

Totally agree here. No it isn't his job to coach the kid, but jesus christ Brett, don't be jackass. Give him some pointers or sum shit. Just because you never had that kind of guidance doesn't mean u need to bestow the same thing upon Rodgers.....whadda dick

I was Right from Day One!

Never liked the guy. Always thought he believed the sun rose for him. Great talent, but full of himself. Talks a great TEAM concept, but it's all about him. The best part is how everyone feels sorry for him and his personal problems. Look around the corner and you'll find hundreds of people worse off than him. If I saw him in a crowd I'd never even approach him...future hall of famer or not. Give me Curtis Martin, Walter Payton, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Bart Star, and Johnny Unitas. :finger:

i agree to extent but he also said he would help Rogers if he asked questions. He just isn't going to offer up pointers. If the kid wants to learn the game he can watch and ask all the questions he wants and Farve will help him.

Favre did seem ticked at the notion Rodgers would be the man replacing him...I'm somewhat surprised at this, if its true...Brett talks about retiring every year, its no wonder GB took a QB....

I always thought of Favre as more of a good ole boy,its been so long since anyone has threatened his position, maybe he's not as close to retiring as he leads us to believe.....He is in the best shape phyisically he's been in , in many years.

I just think he doesn't want to be responsible for Rogers. He looks at Rogers like a project. Let's face it Rogers is not going to be a great NFL QB!!!!

also 4088 yards, 30 TD's and a 92.4 QB rating isn't exactly a mediocre year. Well maybe for Farve but good by anyone elses standards. If he plays 3 more mediocre years like that he'll pass Marino for all time passing yards, and TD passes.

I will say Rogers has about the best machanics I've seen and a couple years behind one of the best QB's ever can't hurt.

CLASS...not ass

You guys are way off base. This is another example of the press taking something out of context and making a controversy out of nothing. I spent 3 days at training camp last week and saw Brett working not only with Rodgers, but with the other QB's as well. I have to disagree with your comments about Brett Favre.

Lets not blame the press here....U might have missed sportscenter for the last 24 hours...They have been playing clips of Favre exactly saying that its not his job to groom the kid..He even goes far enough to say that its not in his contract to help him out!!!!

This is not a case where something is being misreported..Matter of fact if you read my post you would see exactly where i am saying that i am pissed of at ESPN for trying to play this off as something even remotely cool or acceptable simply because they have this stupid lovefest going on with bret favre!!!

Ask Steve Young how much he was groomed by Joe Montana. Yet, he still praised the guy during his hall of fame speech out of sheer respect.

Brett Favre is right. Besides he IS grooming Aaron Rodgers just by going out their for his 15th? year in the best shape of his life and determined to win. When Favre becomes quarterback coach, then he will spend time with Rodgers, until then, he has a team to prepare for the playoffs.

Too bad they won't make it.

They said on the telecast of the Green bay game Rodgers called Favre old man...Favre sent a message by gunning a missle right by him...and said something like 'let's see you do that'

I think Brett will play atleast two more years...he will have a big yr , Green Bay has a bad O Line and will need Favre's arm to carry them on offense, the running game is not going to be as good as the past few yrs....

I think Brett will have a very good statistical yr but GB will struggle.

He always seemed like a great guy. Hard for me to believe that he is being so caustic. There must be more to the story that we don't know.

FWIW, Rodgers had a rep for being an arrogant SOB in his own right while he was at Cal.

I think I understand where Favre was coming from; If Rodgers wants to ask questions and advise from Favre, I'm sure Favre would give it to him. After all, Favre is not going to sabotage his own team by not doing what he could to improve EVERY players performance.

At the same time, Favre has a job to do and this is professional athletics, so everyone is responsible for themselves in a manner of speaking.

It's like training a new employeee at work: You can't stop doing YOUR job for a week to train someone, they need to learn on the fly. You show the person what they need to know to get their job done, and if they forget things, don't write procedures down or take responsibility themselves to know what is expected, what can you do?

plus you didn't hear the whole interview. All you heard was what they showed. It was probably a 10 minute interview and we saw 35 seconds of it.

And he did say it not his job to mentor the kid, but he included that if Rogers wants to ask questions he will help him. So its not like he is saying F Rogers, I'm not doing anything to help him, he's just saying if he wants help to come and ask for it. It shouldn't be Brets job to teach his backup. Sure he can throw in some pointers here and there at practice, but They have things called QB COACHES in the NFL. That is their job. To coach. Farve's job is to win football games.

farve is a media darling there no doubt bout that. Ill cut him slack as he has had some real unfortunate things that have happen in his personel life. Im in Wisconsin and he can do no wrong....but i know thats a load of crap. However, he cant teach this kid proper mechasnics...he never had that himself. So hr bascally said hell lead by example by coming to work everyday and preparing to play as best he can. He also said hed answer the kids questions. Farve is a good guy though...he does give up time to kids for make a wish and hre treats them for the short time hes with them as thier best friend...so i like him alot for that. Hes a good guy , but not perfect....and thats puts him in the same boat as most of us.:toast: cheers

I only read the first few posts on this thread.

The media made that story look more separatist then it really was. He was repeating what the young kid had already said. The organization told Brooks that he is there to learn, and that Brett is there to win this year for the team....a Super Bowl run. The media on natonal television made that look worse than it was.

Now if you watched that series on the telecast as closely as I did. You saw Brett Favre throw some outs that only he can make, you also saw whee everyone has admitted that Aaron is a system QB, and not a playmaker. More like an Aikman, than a Steve Young to male a comparison.

Now Brett might be a bit irritated that his back up is a system QB, and not a lot like him. Like if he had a Lossman(bills) guy behind him. Then I can see

AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED BRETT FAVRE HAS THE RIGHT TO SAY AND DO WHATEVER HE WANTS......HE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST ALL AROUND QB'S AND THE NFL IRONMAN..........PAY HOMMAGE
