I like to use western union due to being able to recieve cash the same day. does or did any book ever offer covering fee on withdrawals? i think books use to cover 50% years ago, now i think there are none. im not sure how popular western union is, but dont you think if a book offered maybe one western union payout a month in which they covered 50% of fees it would go over big?

I can not speak for all books, but the ones that I know very well do not like to use WU on any regularity as it is a pain in the ass. SO I doubt you would see any book actually incouraging WU anymore.

Nana, Neteller has a debit card that is super fast and reasonably priced if you are talking under a couple dimes. Solidpay is also supposed to be coming out with a debit card.

WU is becoming more and more a thing of the past.

No way Western union is going out of style. I know some players, infact i know a whole bunch of players who would not be caught dead using anything other than Western Union. And these are not small timers i am talking about.

Western union is going no where no time soon, especially with the US governmen always looking for new ways to fucQ people over....

I hope you have heard about the latest move the justice department was trying to make to get access to all your banking records, atm cards, off shore transactions etc!!!!

I did not say that the players dont like WU, only the books would prefer other methods....

Also, IMO, WU leaves a bigger trail than any other method. I for one have been banned from sending or recieving via WU.

The amount of "trail" left behind by WU is totally dependant on the user. the kind of people i am talking about do not mind sending 999.00 to their book every day for 2 weeks before the football season begins... (Some books will even give you names of multiple recievers so you can send 999 to 3 or 4 people without getting too much trouble)

for what ever reason they prefer to use this method, i know several of them and i dont see how books could close out that option, regardless of how much they dislike it... Western union users tend to be people willing to load their accounts
with over 1k..BTW for people who really hate faxing copies of their credit cards and id, your fingerprints, DNA sample and granpa's left gonad along with his walking stick!!!! so some chump in some banana republic may have full access to your credit records, home address and other personal info, this is the number one preferred method used to load our accounts.

Books may not like it, but hey, its safer than neteller, cashiers checks, online bank transfers etc. Its the only sure fire way for a customer to send them money and have it loaded same day, no hustles, no charge backs, no disputes, no nothing...Clean cold hard cash! (tell me casino's hate that!!!!).

I have to strongly disagree. Books that accept Western unioin will not stop doing so any time soon and even making a claim that they may stop is incorrect. (If i am not mistaken, 95% of all other methods have a limit on how much you can send that is at around $500.00. Shutting off western union would seriously cripple these books!!!!

I dont want to appear argumentative, just using logical thought with alot of examples from personal experience!!!

I respect your opinion here, but my totl distaste for WU may have made me somewhat jaded. In the many years that I did business with WU, there were more headaches than I can even remember. From Charge backs to just some snotty WU clerk asking too many questions and killing the transfer. I will agree with you that books will not stop offering WU, but I still can not see any of them encouraging customers to use them. Obviously there is no completely safe way to elude the US Govt, but most of the larger players that I am aware off seem to like to use Bank Wires from a non US bank. SInce 9/11 it is very hard to find a clerk that will allow you to send money via WU w/out ID even if it is for under 1k.

Oh you hit the nail on the head!!!!! Goodness gracious there is nothing i hate worse than some 5.95 and hour pissant looking me up and down like i am the local neighborhood drug dealer seeking to pay his supplier in some unknown south american country. And god help you if you are sending the money to bogota Colombia and this particular pissant has some high school education!!!! Then the idiot will actual grow some balls and try to make life hard for you...But trust me, i wont waste a second reading him/her the riot act written right on the back of the western union form and do everything i can to belittle them for working for Western union without even knowing the rules then start demanding for the manager!!!! And these are idiots who have seen me all week long doing the same exact thing and they are bitching and whining about "my security"... (I have actually had one @sshole refuse to send two transfers both under 1k but were going to the same person and had the audacity to call the next store they knew i would go to and told them not to accept my transaction!!!!!)

But all in all, i dont mind putting up with these snotty imbeciles..Most of my friends who use Western union accept it as a necessary annoyance.

It sure as hell beats having one of those "men in black" knock on your door to quiz you about your bank transactions.
