Id like to hear how those who have watched the replay justify it wasn't cheap. Wentz was going down, direction AWAY from clowney, clowney dives and lowers his helmet in a malicious intent. The hole targeting rule in college is for using the crown of the helmet as a weapon basically, that is what Clowney was doing, he was coming in to lay the hurt.
I have noticed many defensive linemen have figured out, even mastered the art of ways to slam on top of QBs and make it apprear to be unintentional.
If they get a penalty, so what? 15 yards in most cases is not that bad compared to the damage that can be done to a hated QB. Brown's Garrett is about the worst, I am shocked at how often he gets away with it.
I had Seattle, so sure $$$ wise it was fine with me that Wentz was out, but Clowney is an elite athlete and knew exactly what he was doing. And if Wentz had stayed, it was much much more likely the Eagles would have covered than with the 40yo who was not prepared and wasn't even going to play any more football in 2019 but wound up on the roster at the last minute.
