at least they should grind the old hamburgers up to try and fool you that it is new meat not just leftover burgers, that is just lazy

I worked there for a little bit when I was a teenager.
Since burgers are always being grilled, not all get served. Anything burnt or unservable as a burger goes in the 'chili meat pan'. Once the 'chili meat pan' is full it goes into the walk in (where it cools) and you can see all the white grease and burnt meat in all its glory the next day when it's time to prep the chili (I'm not kidding). There might be a few full 'chili meat pans' a day. (about 2-3 where I worked.)
The next morning, someone who is part of the opening shift takes the chili meat and does whatever with it I believe they used two spatulas facing each other to chop it up and then toss it in some industrial sized crock pot with the beans and spices.
I guess it's not bad, it's just....nothing to write home about.
