We all came from Adam and Eve. This all started when God tossed both of them out of The Garden of Eden cause they were fornicating after Eve ate Adam's apple. It be as simple as this with a few twists.

I'm thinking that if you tweak a variable here and an assumption there, it can be proved that man evolved from flying pink elephants.

First you have to prove that a fly pink elephant exists. Now a common ancestor has been discovered. Adam or Eve have yet to be discovered.

the web reports, there is no consensus about it being
an ancestor to humans at all.
