1)braithwaite/pineda under 7 rounds(-135)....pineda?....how`d he get here?.....this guy was knocked out by john lennox lewis....whom i always thought was a middleweight to super middleweight............the same john lennox lewis that was recently k.o.`ed by kurt`s boy(a boxing manager acquaintance of mine....he has cory spinks and travis simms going this weekend) travis simms at light middleweight?????...it may mean that pineda may not be a legit cruiser.......and all 3 losses are by k.o. to guys that can`t hold braithwaite`s jock...it`s been awhile since braithwaite hasn`t stopped an opponent...tall lefty...enormously strong...and i don`t think pineda is a boxer...he`s predicting a 1st round k.o. for himself....he has 15 k.o.`s in 17 wins...and all 3 losses were by k.o....

and looking at pineda`s string of wins to get here....the competition was laughable.....set-up?....braithwaite`s a beast....the only way this goes 7 is if braithwaite has money on the over(i`m sure i just jinxed myself)....

2)mike anchondo/goyo vargas over 9.5 rds(-200)....thursday on hbo latino......heavy odds.....and i see a very competitive fight...anchondo could be an up and coming star..he`s very good....quick and can punch.....vargas is still tough as nails.....and doesn`t get stopped...has fought numerous champions....and looked absolutely great vs gary balleto in his last outing...

i see what might be the fight of the weekend here...and i don`t see anybody going anywhere short of a cut....if you can see this one,do it....a potentially super bout.....i`m a little shocked that anchondo is taking this chance.....

3)small play on felix machado(+150) getting his super fly belt back from luis perez....perez won a split decision from machado last time out....the deciding vote was 114-113 for perez and machado had 1 point deducted for low blows....and also had a closed eye from a head butt for a good portion of the fight...

machado`s losses were a stoppage in his first pro fight...a split decision to a 60-6 thai fighter IN thailand...a fight in which he had the guy down and almost out more than once.. ...a d/q to contender adonis cruz and the split loss due to low blow to perez.... he has wins over mauricio pastrana...martin castillo and julio gamboa......

perez has fought outside of nicaragua twice...his split win over machado and a loss to vernie torres.....

the over 11.5 also looks good but at -300 and with the potential for headbutts,i`m a little leery....
smaller play because it could be close and we are getting 1.5 to 1 odds...

Nice Going Sphincter! I think I may put something on the Braithwaite bout. I am not that afraid of the -600 moneyline. I trust Braithwaite can KO his opponent, but I am not very comfortable timing the KO. Braithwaite is one of the more effective power punchers to come along in the cruiserweight division in quite some time. I honestly see him having a chance at becoming the undisputed cruiserweight champion in the near future if he can get past Mormeck.

i`ll say this....vargas got old tonight.....i feel fortunate that anchondo didn`t put his foot on the gas......

loved goyo in his prime....a tough solid guy.....

b.f....if braithwaite doesn`t starch pineda,it`ll be right up there with buster douglass beating tyson......i`m not talking about him beating braithwaite....just not getting knocked out.....

it has to happen....unless somebody doesn`t want it to....it is,after all,boxing...lol

i just don`t have the sac to lay -600....but,if you don`t collect,i`ll be shocked...

almly....i lose my share....everybody does....but i know a few managers and trainers(acquaintances, not close friends)that help me out....i`ve been following this crap since literally grade school...

my uncle boxed in the navy and my father was a boxing nut.....he put my brother and myself into the p.a.l. program as kids and we fought in pennsylvania and new jersey(mostly against juvenile delinquents and future criminals...lol) ....moved to new jersey from maryland and started there...then moved back to maryland and actually trekked to pennsylvania for the activities...it was a pain in the ass then....now i`m glad i was forced to do it.....

i was indoctinated at a young age....now i`m hooked....

betting on this stuff can be shaky,as you guys well know....

but,it`s a helluva kick...

we`re fortunate to have one another....except for a few solid sites, there`s not a ton of good boxing guys to shoot the breeze with on the net....a few good ones...

you guys are good....

respected boxing writer pedro fernandez is picking:

rahman over ruiz....

alvarez over burgos...

mayorga stopping spinks inside of 9
he thinks that it`s possible that if hopkins has gotten old(and maybe he has added to his inactivity)that joppy has a chance to win this bout...

upset....travis simms to beat alex garcia...

Ruiz is a chump. He is big and a true heaveyweight, but the problem with him is that he has no POWER at all. Hasim will be victorious in this brawl since Ruiz punches like a grandma. Rahman defeats Ruiz in late rounds.

I don't see Ruiz getting KO'd by Rahman.

Since Oly is the only book offering a line on the Braithwaite bout, I settled for their -650 today. I wish this bout were televised also. King should have started this thing up at 7pm.

king takes a ton of heat.....and 90% of it is probably justified.....

but a 5 fight ppv card?.....and 5 decent fights....when`s the last time we had 5 solid fights on ppv?.....5 fights period......and 3 other solid off t.v. fights

the man deserves some credit here......only in america....

It sure was. Although I hesitated in putting my bet in on Braithwaite. What made me finally put my wager in today was: 1. Last day and last moments before fight 2. I went back to what has made me successful in boxing (studying fighter records at boxrec.com).

I realized that Pineda has been fighting bums and has been KO'd in the past by "not so great" fighters, though be it years ago. Once shown that a fighter has no chin, he never will have a chin.

almly.......until i get my sh-t handed to me.....

my last play....the "little one"(the underdog) has an excellent chance to lose...

i checked around at all the boxing sites i peruse and i don`t think anybody else took machado....

it was a fun play....picking dogs that win outright is tough....

b.f. was hitting `em there for awhile....
