Recap:

Week 1: -34
Week 2: +500 (hit the big 4 team teaser)

Week 3

$250 South Florida -3 -115 : This is one of the handful of games that I had picked before the season even started (so happens two were in week 3).
Angles are as follows: USF has the speed to match or surpass KU, Grothe is very comparable to Chase and we all saw what Chase did to chop hawk KU. Solid enough O-Line, defensively they have the ends and speed to contain Reesing some. Not too mention its at home.

$200 Purdue +7.5 (Note I have $500 on Oregon season win total) : I have this game circled before the season started. I almost played Purdue in the season win total but had already chosen Oregon so there was no sense playing both. Reason being I knew Oregon would be favored in this game and had a chance of doing a little damage. In other words I'm hoping for a Purdue cover and Oregon to win. This should be the most exciting game on Saturday (note that I did not say marque). I think Purdue matches up favorably and would not be surprised to see them win outright. It comes down to the protection of Painter. Purdue's defense continues to be underrated and should slow or should I say get Oregon out of rhythm. Bottom line Painter and run defense are the difference here. Not saying they'll be able to win those battles but they are capable......capable indeed.

*$50 (not a play yet) Tulane +14: Will play only if this number becomes available

$50 Oklahoma -19.5 (might add more): This Husky team should be in complete despair (understatement to say the least) at the moment. Don't see how they can get up to play this game against the machine they call the OU offense. I for see a few 3 and outs here for Husky nation and that will spell trouble sooner rather than later (corny but crafty).

$50 Maryland +14.5: Too much value to pass this one up. My angles: Let down spot, solid O-Line, Home, and the skill guys to cause enough damage to keep this from getting over the number

Will add two more. Waiting for things to move around first.

Interesting picks Voice. Tough loss last week against the gaytors, but it was nice effort. Showed a lot of heart. Look forward to playing you guys in a few weeks. Should be a battle, except with class.

I like the MD. pick as well. Many people are looking to how Cal. handled a piss poor WSU team and MD. loss to Mid. Tenn. I think MD. will try to utilize their running game more to cut down on the new QBs turnovers and to keep Cal. offense off the field.
Remember last year's North Carolina game? The Turner-led Terps slipped to 4-5 with a loss to a team that hadn't beaten them since 2000. Maryland, which managed only 13 points, seemed to be driving for a tying field goal at the end but Turner's last two passes went incomplete.

Things couldn't have looked bleaker for Maryland and Turner, who then went out the next week and threw for 337 yards in a 42-35 win against a stellar Boston College team.
I'm not saying that'll happen again this week against Cal. But it showed again that you have to assess teams and quarterbacks based on seasons, not individual games.

Gators are still ahead of us in terms of talent due to their Top 5 classes year in year out (with the exception of this last class) largely for reasons Boxslayer mentioned in another thread (Meyer, boosters, resources, facilities, etc.). We finally got a top 5 class (Shannon is putting a fence around Dade/Broward county) and it seems thus far their living up to their billing. I for see us improving dramatically offensively by next year. Our offensive line is only going to get better with our youth and incoming talent. Our QB situation is a little bit dicey with possibly three guys all wanting major playing time. I got to see our 3rd string QB Cannon Smith a few times in person and I could tell you right now that hes got more potential than 75% of the starting QB's out there. Contrary to what others think our program will be an OK shape because of Shannon's recruting prowess. He may not be the best x and o coach but neither is Mack Brown. I think we'll be the Texas Longhorns II for years to come.

As for the Criminoles v "U" match up I will be making a substantial wager on our program. By then Shannon will show more confidence in our QB's and that should lead to more efficient drives.

Have a good feeling Terps cover.

Adding $50 on Tulane

$100: Tulane +13

$125 Fresno St. ML +120 : Love this Fresno team and this will be my second time taking them.

$125 South Carolina +7.5 : They have the defense to keep this close. OBC will have his team ready without a doubt. If they can just keep turnovers to a minimum I for see a possible upset looming here and +7.5 has too much value to pass up.

Looking at one more possibly two.

$25 Rutgers -2.5 -115 1st half

Note: $50 on the 2nd half if I were to lose the 1st.

Key is Rutgers defense matches up well against Tar Heel offense.

Thoughts on Ponder?
MAJOR MAJOR upgrade over Drew Weatherford. I didn't catch the whole game, but from what i saw he looked great. One thing about Ponder is he learns just as fast on the field as he does in the classroom. He doesnt make the same mistake twice. He throws a nice ball. Unlike Weatherford, he hits his receivers in stride, giving them the opportunity to make plays on the run. Jimbo gave him more responsibility in the season opener and he performed well. Fisher gave Ponder three plays he could audible into if he didnt like what the defense was showing. What this does is forces the defense to show their hand. And with multipositional players we have, Parker (can play RB) Fortson (can line up at TE) this allows FSU to always have the upperhand on the playcall. He did a good job of calling the right play and delivering.

It was WCU, but he is a breath of fresh air compared to Weatherford.

Thanks for your take on Ponder Hawk. I've read a lot of positive things on the kid and your echoing that. Seminole nation seems to be content with the decision and I wish him the best.

One the same side with you here. I think that Oklahoma can also be a winner this week but just dont have enough UMPH to put some units on the Sooners. BOL this Friday and the rest of the weekend VoR.
