Week 2 Sunday Morning/Afternoon

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs -3.5
Week 1 has set this spread perfect for me to pounce on. The only thing stuck on people’s minds is that Kansas City was in a tight game with New England which they had a chance to win. And Oakland got blown out at home against Denver. Let me bring the Public Perception back down to earth here. The Raiders are the better team here and are going to win this game outright. I love McFadden and Fargas to really do some damage on the ground, and keep the ball out of Jamarcus’s hands. On defense Oakland is going to put the 8th man in the box and force the Chiefs to have to air it out. I love Deangelo Hall and Naamdi Assomo… (I’m not even going to attempt to spell his last name) in this spot. Raiders win this game outright is my personal opinion, but we’ll take the 3.5 point blanket instead.

Mac Picks: Oakland +3.5

Indianapolis Colts -1.5 at Minnesota Vikings
Am I missing something here. The Colts and the Best QB in the game are going up against one of the worse Passing defenses that let a first time starter throw 80% on them. This game is in a Dome, a surrounding the Colts are all to familiar with. Colts roll in this one. Seriously Vegas, am I missing something here???

Mac Picks: Indianapolis -1.5

New Orleans Saints at Washington Redskins (Pick Em)
These 2 teams are going to make noise in the NFC this year. I expect them both to be in the Playoffs, and both have a shot at representing the NFC in the Super bowl. This game is going to be tough for me to pick, but 4 things have me leaning towards the Skins in this one. 1.) Washington is at home, 2.) They can’t afford to lose this game, 3.) Colston is out of this game, and 4.) They had the extra time to prepare for this game. If Washington can shut down Shockey, and generate some pressure then I like the Skins to win a tight game.

Mac Picks: Washington Pick Em

Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers -3.0
So which of these 2 teams fluked their road victories last week? The answer to that is neither team. Which team is actually a competitor this year? The Chicago Bears is the correct answer. Chicago’s defense is healthy and is back to form. I don’t see how the Panthers are going to generate any offense against the Bears defense. Especially with Steve Smith not being in the game. The Bears are not going to generate a lot of offense on their part either but they do just enough to get the victory. Throw in the X-factor of a turnover happy D that the Bears sport, and a player that can take it to the house anytime he gets the ball (Hester) and I like the Bears to go to 2-0 this year.

Mac Picks: Chicago +3.0

Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars -5.5
Vegas you’ve got to be kidding me here. How the hell can you justify the Jaguars being 5.5 point favourites here. This Spread at best should be Jax -3.0. Buffalo has a legitimate shot at winning this game here. This game has physical low scoring field goal game written all over it. I love Stroud and the Bills D-Line to really take advantage of a banged up offensive line in Jacksonville. Garrard is going to be under constant pressure and forced into mistakes once again this week. On the flip side, the Bills are going to have their fair share of difficulty against this physical defense of the Jags. This game is a field goal game either way so the 5.5 points is a gift.

Mac Picks: Buffalo +5.5

San Diego Chargers -1.0 at Denver Broncos
MISCONCEPTIONS!!! I love week 2 because every body is quick to jump teams after just 1 week of action. This spread is obviously swayed by last weeks action. After watching Monday Night Football I bet everybody thinks Denver might be a legitimate power house this year. They are good but they are not an elite team yet. The team that is lining up across the field from them this week is. Make no mistakes about it, San Diego is the best team in the league. They cannot and will not go 0-2 to start the season, and they will not fall 2 games back to Denver in the AFC West. They are going to win this game here, whether it be by 3 points or 30 points, they will get the job done. San Diego’s elite Defense is going to create pressure on Cutler, and the Corners are going to have no problem covering Marshall and Royal. On the flipside of the ball L.T is going to be licking his lips as he sees holes wider than Pamela Anderson’s P**** San Diego rolls and gets it done here.

Mac Picks: San Diego -1.0

Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers Total – 37.0
I know people hate to touch the under on a spread this low. Mark my words here the score is going to be along the lines of 17-6 for Chicago.

Mac Picks: Under 37.0

New York Giants at St. Louis Rams Total - 41.5
I love both offenses to dig deep and let it fly in this game. This game is a 28-21 type game here, so you have to love the over here. I expect St. Louis to be competitive here, and the only way they make a game out of this, is if they make it a shootout.

Mac Picks: Over 41.5

Week 2 Sunday Night Special

Pittsburgh Steelers -6.0 at Cleveland Browns
This is going to be a Sunday Night game that I can’t wait to see. Cleveland is going to win this division this year, and in order to do that they must win this game at home. I like Cleveland here because they have the perfect offense against this tough Steelers D. The only chance you have to run against Pitt, is with a physical running game. Enter Jamal Lewis. In the air, I like Cleveland’s mismatches in the passing game. Winslow is going to force Polamalu to stay with him the whole game, which is going to open up the running game, and is going to allow Braylon Edwards to get some single coverage. On the flipside of the ball Pitt is also going to get some offense in. They are going to look to establish the run with Parker, but I’m more concerned in Ben exposing the Browns weak secondary. In the end though Giving Cleveland 6 points at home, in a game where they will most likely win, is a gimmie.

Mac Picks: Cleveland +6.0

Mac, mac, mac! Still no faith in CAR! They are the real deal, and they will definitely show it against a poor CHI "O". However, they did terribly @ home last yr, even with Delhomme.

OAK will hurt you again too. That team is in turmoil. And they have a few selfish players in key positions. Kiffen is upset with Ryan over the "D", but Al Davis likes Ryan. Sigh, that team is going to be a disaster this yr. Poor Jamarcus. KC is bad too, but they're good enough at home to beat up on the Raiders.

I do believe you're right about DEN/SD. SD's "O" loves to tee off on DEN's "D". And now that DEN is giving pts, this is an excellent spot to play the road dog. SD does not want to go 0-2.

And you can read my thread on why BUF is a potential GOY.

GL Mac, and lets hope the RX can stay online long enough this wk!

I love Football Sunday, I always wake up extra early, go for a Champions breakfast. Quickly review any last minute spreads, then I sit back and let Chris Berman prepare me for the Morning Games.

Washington...shot at rep. NFC in Super Bowl???? Even making the playoffs is a stretch. New head coach new coordinators trying to get a spread offense going with 5 WRs on the roster only one is worth a damn and one can't learn the playbook. A professional team can't run a 4 minute or 2-minute hurry up offense? Just embrassing for a VA man. D is decent but highly overrated. No way they win there conference or wild card spot.

Appreciate your posts and GL

Yessir, I'm sure we've probably seen each other, because I have been to every Store in Toronto handicapping for people as they are making their picks right there on the spot.

where abouts in the city are you?

Scarborough Baby!!!

VA Blake, a lot of people said that to me last year in the first half of the Season with Washington. But I stood by them as they went on a run and got themselves in the Wild Card Spot. This year they won't wait till the second half of the season to do it. I like the Saints a lot, but they are very limited without Colston, and a Top Tier Defense like Washington will expose that.
