My best bets got off to a fast start last year and then started to nose-dive as the lines got sharper. I really love K.C. getting the 3 points. I feel Denver is going to be mediocre this year without Portis, Sharp, or McCaffrey. And K.C. will be the same. Dominant.

I usually like to stick with just 2-5 plays a week, but I just thought of another play I really like. The Raiders pass defense has looked, let's face it, pretty terrible in the preseason. This is very troubling for the silver and black going into Pittsburgh for the opener. Gannon and company could find themselves behind, or in a shoot-out very early on, and, I'm confident that the Raiders offense won't resemble the slow, inept squad we saw last year. While Gannon still doesn't look as good as their AFC west championship years, he does look more comfortable, consistant, and productive. And Tyrone Wheatley has looked great, I expect their running game to do very well, as it did in the 2001 season when Wheat had a great year, they were the #1 rushing team in the NFl I think. It's gonna be high-scoring, fellas, take the over.

yeah, I decided to upgrade the play to a best bet, not that anyone cares.

I'm also adding another play I was toying with:

gotta love those early season lines. Detroit +3? who are they kidding? heh o.k. I know they lost all their road games last year, incuding against da Bears, by more than 3 points. Still, I like Detroit coming into this year more than the Bears, so I'll take the points thank you.

Panthers will add some sugar to your opening weekend (although either way you are out of the gate ahead of the game)

I am leaning towards GB myself but I wonder what your thoughts are on taking carolina? I hear the place is gonna be hoppin and that amahn green may not be 100%. But GB is improved overall - and I think carolina is having some secondary questions, as well as having to deal with some downgrades at LB or DLine (not sure which)

Jay, glad to see my Raiders covered for you, dawg. Yeah that K.C. pick jumped out at me at first but obviosly it shouldn't have been a best bet. I greatly underestimated Denver. Anyways, I'm not a real strong capper so I don't have any solid reasons to take Carolina. I'm just an NFL fan who watches a lot of the NFL shows on ESPN, and the games on the weekend. Although preseason doesn't always mean much, it often does show hints of what your team is going to do, and, I based a lot of my opinions this week on what I've seen so far in the preseason. Green Bay did o.k. in the preseason, but I was more impressed with Carolina. They still have the best defensive line in the NFL and that will counter-act Green Bay's offensive line, I'm guessing. Favre doesn't always play that well when going against a superior defense like what Carlina has. And Carolina's offense should be able to score a decent amount of points against Green Bay, I'm not buying the hype that Green Bay has done much to improve themselves this year. Their defense is still questionable in my mind. Good luck.

I also have a lot of doubts about this pick now, as I did with the K.C. pick, now that I see so many poeple on here on the opposite side.

I had the Patriots and the over on Thurday as well, which puts me at 6-4 on the week. Best bets are 1-1. I guess I shouldn't have added that over for tonights game.
