It took me a while to get the feel for this thing we do here since I found myself rearing like an unbroke mustang when I saw the first card with pointspreads on it. How new and how strange to note that there is a groove still working all along as if no one ever left the sportsbook. I can dig it. So here's to a splashing entrance if I've got it in me and as usual, best of luck to everyone. May your wagering be profitable.
CO -3/Col St. It would seem almost sacrilegious if Mike MacIntyre made his grand entrance with a flop. I can't buy that. I also like his QB Sefo Liufau in his first full season as Colorado's starter. The Buffs won't win many games this season but they can win this one and I believe they will. If I also recall correctly, MacIntyre ran a pretty tight ship defensively at SJSU that held his team together while his offense developed. Not a bad way to manage things when your team is on the mend. You guys will know Mike MacIntyre soon enough if you don't already know him. He is a very underrated coach.
UCLA-20½/VA Just way too much Bruin here and way too little Virginia. I couldn't help but notice how the Cavs played the better teams last season and how they played the way better teams too. Basically when they were seriously outgunned, they just mailed it in. UCLA fits the second category. They will not be stopped all game long and Virginia won't be able to do squat all game long to stop the Bruins or to score on them. This game should be a blowout -- no contest. I just hope that Mora doesn't pull his 1's and 2's until at least the 3rd quarter. Brett Hundley could use a little practice. There is one word that separates the Bruins from Virginia (aside from skill) and that word is speed. Hopeless and much faster speed.
Northwestern-11/Cal Bears Rule #1 when betting the Pac... never never bet Cal on the road during the preseason. Well, almost never. But seriously, here are 2 teams headed in pretty much opposite directions and I can't help but have a feeling that da Bears don't even want to be there. A very poor prognosis for Cal this season as it boils down to either the Bears or the Buffs that wind up scraping the bottom of the Pac-12 barrel. I vote for Cal if that's the case. I think Sonny Dykes is in over his head and if this was 2015, we'd probably be talking the hot seat for him. IMHO, he just doesn't match up to the coaching talent around the league. On the flip side of this one, you've got Northwestern and those big galoots on their OL that people can be heard whispering about. .Last season they went 5-7 (W/L) but they lost 5 games in the final 2 minutes. Cal? Did they win 2 games? I don't see them being very competitive at all. It would not surprise me if they just mailed this one in.
BOL everyone.
PS... please start another thread if you want to ask for opinions on games I didn't play in this thread. You can offer any opinion you like about any game here... just please don't ask for opinions in this thread. The focus becomes a bit blurred when I take my mind off of my picks... I am still considering TT's and half time wagers as usual so keep yourself close by if I get the urge to post more on these games or others via my own stumblings about.
