It took me a while to get the feel for this thing we do here since I found myself rearing like an unbroke mustang when I saw the first card with pointspreads on it. How new and how strange to note that there is a groove still working all along as if no one ever left the sportsbook. I can dig it. So here's to a splashing entrance if I've got it in me and as usual, best of luck to everyone. May your wagering be profitable.

CO -3/Col St. It would seem almost sacrilegious if Mike MacIntyre made his grand entrance with a flop. I can't buy that. I also like his QB Sefo Liufau in his first full season as Colorado's starter. The Buffs won't win many games this season but they can win this one and I believe they will. If I also recall correctly, MacIntyre ran a pretty tight ship defensively at SJSU that held his team together while his offense developed. Not a bad way to manage things when your team is on the mend. You guys will know Mike MacIntyre soon enough if you don't already know him. He is a very underrated coach.

UCLA-20½/VA Just way too much Bruin here and way too little Virginia. I couldn't help but notice how the Cavs played the better teams last season and how they played the way better teams too. Basically when they were seriously outgunned, they just mailed it in. UCLA fits the second category. They will not be stopped all game long and Virginia won't be able to do squat all game long to stop the Bruins or to score on them. This game should be a blowout -- no contest. I just hope that Mora doesn't pull his 1's and 2's until at least the 3rd quarter. Brett Hundley could use a little practice. There is one word that separates the Bruins from Virginia (aside from skill) and that word is speed. Hopeless and much faster speed.

Northwestern-11/Cal Bears Rule #1 when betting the Pac... never never bet Cal on the road during the preseason. Well, almost never. But seriously, here are 2 teams headed in pretty much opposite directions and I can't help but have a feeling that da Bears don't even want to be there. A very poor prognosis for Cal this season as it boils down to either the Bears or the Buffs that wind up scraping the bottom of the Pac-12 barrel. I vote for Cal if that's the case. I think Sonny Dykes is in over his head and if this was 2015, we'd probably be talking the hot seat for him. IMHO, he just doesn't match up to the coaching talent around the league. On the flip side of this one, you've got Northwestern and those big galoots on their OL that people can be heard whispering about. .Last season they went 5-7 (W/L) but they lost 5 games in the final 2 minutes. Cal? Did they win 2 games? I don't see them being very competitive at all. It would not surprise me if they just mailed this one in.

BOL everyone.

PS... please start another thread if you want to ask for opinions on games I didn't play in this thread. You can offer any opinion you like about any game here... just please don't ask for opinions in this thread. The focus becomes a bit blurred when I take my mind off of my picks... I am still considering TT's and half time wagers as usual so keep yourself close by if I get the urge to post more on these games or others via my own stumblings about.

Conan: Always a pleasure. Not much PAC-12 coverage in Canada east of BC, so I appreciate the insight.

Yup, im hitting Colorado myself. I touched on the value of Coach Mac as well...this guy will be a name to watch the next 5 years. Being located in San Jose and seeing what he was able to do in the short time was very impressive. Once Tomey got them out of sanction hell lasagne Mac took over they actually became a solid team. Plus a very good recruiter. Does not try to overshoot, takes what he can and develops em.
Good luck this season

Yeah. I think it is entirely doable for Mac and the Buffs to make a lot of bookmakers very unhappy this season. I did a little research piece on coaches and teams that came on and became gambler's idols ATS. There is a system behind detecting future dominant ATS HC's and their teams. Win some and lose some in the W/L column but in this forum, that's not the only game we play. In this place we are not just fans but gamblers. In the sport of CFB, we play 2 games.

Hey, got lots of gratitude towards my CFB buddies in here. I truly appreciate all of your well wishes. I hope to have another 60% to 70% year ATS, not just for my own good, but for everyone that has it in for his bookmaker. That is the only attitude anyone needs.... if you disagree, then why do you think he's in the bookmaking business? When you understand that, you will know who your real friends are and who they aren't. So FUCKEM !! They are macho vato "gentlemen" that want only one thing... your money!! Never forget that. Don't let yourself ever become soft on that issue. Get him back on his heels and keep him there.

I agree with you on the UCLA and Colorado games. I am on the fence on NW game, but your logic of Cal mailing it in is absolutely absurd. Nobody the first week of the season is mailing it in.

Man. What do you have against sonny dykes

Nothing personal, but if Kyle Wittingham can't get over the hump with 4 years behind him, then how do you think Sonny will stack up vs some of the elite minds that oppose him in a major FBS conference? He was able to do a few good things for LA Tech when he coached the WAC, but this is the Pac and his record doesn't warrant much success in high stakes places the way he was able to rise above some of the "other" teams in lesser conferences. The guy has a lot more to prove than I've seen him do in the past. $10 million in facility upgrades and you'd think an old salt like Sonny could manage perhaps a few more decent recruits and a couple more wins. When I look around the league and see what some of the other coaches have done with their programs, even in their first year, it makes me wonder... Coach Tedford did put his palatial estate in the Berkeley hills up for sale in May, the year he was canned. The cupboard was bare... and from what I can tell, for the most part it still is.
