WUNDERDOG
SARATOGA Race #3 at 2:00 PM Eastern
Top pick: #3 (ROCKIN BOOGIE) - $200,000 grey son of "Eddington" showed good early speed when debuting at Belmont July 9 and he's in a barn (Bruce Levine) that always points it's maidens to their 2nd start. Working very fast locally for this attempt and he could be long gone with an alert start in this abbreviated sprint.
2nd pick: #4 (Sark) - He's the only other runner with experience and he finished 2nd here in a turf sprint July 27. He ran well on the dirt at Churchill earlier in the year and should be competitive in this spot.
3rd pick: #2 (Sinatra) - Working fast for his initial outing and son of "Harlan's Holiday" has a bullet from the gate here a week ago. He's in a good barn (Dale Romans) and may be a fast one.
Del Mar Race #1 at 5:00 PM Eastern
Top pick: #3 (FULL EFFECT) - Gelding pressed a fast pace and weakend in the last furlong facing special weights on the local grass course just 12 days ago. Trainer Mike Harrington drops him into a claimer for the first time and moves him back to the main-track. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #4 (Tap For Texas) - Gelding by "Tapit" has been competitive in all three starst since dropping out of special weight contests. Stretches-out today and is a strong threat down the stretch.
3rd pick: #5 (Dontshootthedeputy) - Lightly raced has been freshened up for the past two months by trainer Marty Jones. Gelding has broken slowly in his last pair and that's a bd habit to get into. Blinkers go on along with a drop down in class.
