BOLD SEEKER - The rider and trainer combination have a positive return on investment when they join forces. Gelding took a little vacation, but has been racing into shape. Personally, I wouldn't worry about where he finished in his last race (fourth). Should rebound right here in this race, with some pretty good odds.

SERRATED EDGE - Speed figs tell a tale of dropping physical condition. Finished third in his most recent race with a substandard speed figure. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this group. CATLETTSBURG - This gelding hasn't had any positive results in sprint events in the last 60 days. CINNAMON LUCK - Awfully hard to bet on this racer when he hasn't been showing any fighting spirit recently. No success for this steed in a sprint race over the last couple of months tells me that this gelding is in a very difficult situation

ASIAN ODYSSEY - We have lots of early speed with this horse. She could wire this field. Cappuccitti enters this horse in a spot where she should fit well based on her last two speed ratings. A repeat of that latest effort on Oct 13th where she garnered a speed figure of 81 looks good enough to win in this affair. MISS ECHO DURING - Have to make this mare a serious competitor; she comes off a strong race on May 16th. Multiple victories over the surface right here at Woodbine. Maybe, another trip to the winner's circle in this event. CLOUDWATCHER - I like this mare a lot here. She shows a lot of consistency, finishing in the money frequently. STORMY VOYAGE - You'll be generating profits left and right by turning your racing money onto this rider/handler combination.

When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this field. CINDER TYME - A strong thoroughbred that's been running well, but she's been off the track in the mornings lately.

This will be one of the more concise breakdowns you’ll find in this space during the course of the year. That’s because I’m basing this more on the eye test than anything else. It’s not that I can’t produce some decent stats to support this play. But to me the big key is that the side I like appears to be kicking it into the gear they were supposed to be at from opening day.

The Dodgers are getting warm. I’m not about to suggest they’re set to go off on another 42-8 run like we witnessed last season. But this very talented squad is starting to click. If that’s indeed the case, then the line on tonight’s game with the Reds is going to look like it was a bargain when assessing numbers that could be appearing within just a week or so. You won’t be finding many opportunities to grab the Dodgers at a decent dog price when facing a .500 neighborhood team like Cincinnati.

Beyond the impression I have that the buy signal for the Dodgers has been sent, there is some tangible stuff to include tonight. The Dodgers have been outstanding on the road, with a stellar 22-12 ledger and they’ve certainly hit better when they’re in the role of visitor. If you want to make a case that LA plays with a little better sense of urgency on the road where they don’t assume a win every time out, I’m willing to listen.

The tough part of the task tonight is beating Johnny Cueto. Let’s face it, this guy is tough. But Cueto has had no luck throughout his career with the Dodgers, and the truth is that the Reds ace has not been at his sharpest lately. As for Hyun-Jin Ryu, he also isn’t in best form recently, but Ryu has shown real knack for being able to generally limit the damage even when he’s a little off.

I would call the pitching matchup pretty much of a wash. The Dodgers have the better offense here, and while LA has been a dynamo on the road, the Reds have a losing record at home. The finishing touch is my perception that the Dodgers are getting hot. Add in plus money with the current line and it’s not a bad spot to give the Dodgers a roll.
