Race 8 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: GALE FORCE HANOVER (3rd)

Spot Play: SMILING MAJOR (4th)

Race 1

(4) ANNIES ROCKETMAN has the speed and must be caught. (2) SPECIAL PURPOSE needs to stay flat to loom large in the shadow of the wire. (1) ACTION EAR TO EAR had no excuse in last but should be close at the end.

Race 2

(1) HIGH GEAR WINNER has shown speed, has shown late kick. Faces weaker, draws the rail and needs only some guts to hit the winner's circle for first time this year. (4) LOOKSLIKEFIRE looked like a winner until the last yards in last. Likely pacesetter need only hold his speed a few more steps. (6) LUCKY CIRO has faces better in the recent past and could upset on best.

Race 3

(1) GALE FORCE HANOVER seeks fourth straight and can only beat himself. (5) LETS JUST DANCE put in a winning qualifier after breaking in two straight pari-mutuel outings. (4) ROSE RUN PANCHO gets a slight nod to hit the board despite propensity for breaking.

Race 4

(4) SMILING MAJOR finished with a major flourish in last but just missed. (9) GORDIEISANARTIST needs to avoid traffic in the early going and one has to avoid how badly he quit in last over the sloppy track. (8) ARMBRO DURABLE ships in off a `tour the track' kinda effort and could surprise on best.

Race 5

(6) CARELESS LOVE won too easily in last and need only repeat the move to bring home the bacon again. (5) CRYSTAL BRILLIANCE can find the rail in here and would loom large in the late stages with the right trip. (8) ROMPAWAY ELVIS shipped back and was a beaten favorite in last. Is he going to be luckier this time?

Race 6

(1) MORGANS MAJESTIC got the tightener in last and races second time off the qualifier and has proven he knows how to win. (4) FORTUNE JAMES closed a ton to win last and has kicked it up late in most of recent. (5) ANNIESBLUEJEANBABY was in striking position in last but got in tight locking wheels.

Race 7

(3) NATHAN was first over and second best in last. Beaten favorite can atone with racing luck. (7) SOUTHWIND MAIZE is competitive this level if he stays flat. (9) MORELAND FLASH was weak from same post in recent but seemed tighter in most recent outing. If he gets away well, he can argue the point.

Race 8

(6) MR GREEN made his foes green with envy in last after launching huge finish to crush them and can do it again. (2) YARROWS CRUISER stuck it to them at 30-1 in last and should be ideally placed once more. (5) INFORM ships in with speed and three solid outings in last four efforts.

Race 9

(3) VIEWLANDER was used too hard in last and held too well to look past this evening. (7) JJ ALCATRAZ put in a strong qualifier and might be ready at first asking. (2) CONDOR HALL was a short neck second best in last and has been racing well most of recent outings.

Race 10

(3) TIDBIT had the perfect trip in last and won the way you are supposed to with the perfect trip. Should get another good trip and looms as short priced repeat winner. (1) HOLLYWOOD HUSTLER has speed but could be better served if someone else sets the pace. (2) SEE YA LATER DUDE lands in most favorable post he has had in long time and cannot be overlooked.

Race 11

(7) VACATION ANGEL was crushed by fleet-footed winner in last but looks capable of taking this. (3) SEPTEMBER HALL rallied gamely to get up on the wire in last outing. (2) NEELY SPRING has speed, two wins and two seconds in last four tries.

Race 12

(5) CJS VICTORY has been `mildly' rounding into form and seems more than `mildly' capable of finally earning a victory. (2) MISS EVA CASH made a bold move in her qualifier two back but flattened out. Came wide in first start off that encouraging effort and held better. Beaten favorite in last would be tough with modest improvement off that effort. (7) ELIAN EXPRESS would have been in the stands if he was any wider passing the third panel in last.

Race 13

(3) SPARE TIME GINO gets the nod over a bunch of interesting shippers as he faces slightly weaker shipping from Canada. (9) CAM EAST gets the second call shipping in from Hazel Park. (1) RAISE THE GIN won last which sets him apart from the crowd, draws the rail and ships in facing similar.

Race 14

(5) SUPER LUSTRE jogged versus weaker two back as odds on favorite to break two year losing streak but was victimized by traffic jam in last as the short priced favorite. Will he be lucky or unlucky? (2) FORTUNE KING won last from the eight hole against weaker in last but should get a decent trip. (2) CINCINNATI MYSTRES was nailed in the lane in front stepping qualifier last time. Can lead these to the late stages.

Race 15

(6) WESTERN MARK had some traffic to clear in last but seemed full of pace once he found his way through. (4) SHOCKBYELECTRIC ran out of gas in the lane last two tries but was tighter in last. Should try it again. (9) STEP RIGHT UP should clear early traffic with speed on the rail in front of him and was a beaten favorite two back.

Spot Play: CAMS SAHBRA (8th)

Race 1

(1a) CHOCOLATE SURPRISE raced really well in his debut and should only improve. (6) SWISS MOCHA has some upside and faces a softer field than his last few. (8) RED SOLO CUP comes off of two awesome qualifiers but gets sent out for a barn that could be aiming for a different spot. If the well bred trotter has his nose on the gate he will probably win. If he's lagged off the gate two or three lengths you'll probably have your answer.

Race 2

(2) PARKLANE DIAMOND nice looking filly has a ton of potential and will be ready for a good effort off the bench. (1) ODDS ON TOPAZ adds lasix for the first time; the only question mark is her health coming off a scratch. (6) OLA HANOVER Indiana bred filly raced well in her first lifetime start and is a threat on paper.

Race 3

(6) CRUELLA DE VILLE well bred 3-year-old filly trotter makes her career debut and picks up a hall of fame pilot; big chance. (8) LOVIN YOU FOREVER mare is inconsistent but finds a suspect field full of question marks. (2) MAPLE GROVE TOM was just even in his debut but does have room for improvement in his second lifetime start.

Race 4

(7) KITTY O'BRIEN should offer the better price and will be charging hard late. (6) TOPVILLE BRIDGETTE gets sent out for lethal connections winning at a big clip. The pacer is tough to go against but will offer low value. (8) WESTERN BOUDOIR could jump up with a better effort off dull lines at a price; use underneath.

Race 5

(6) ROYAL TABS if the well bred filly can't beat this field she would be a huge disappointment. (2) KEYSTONE SWAGGER is trotting faster than most of the field but has been very dull; use caution. (7) RAPHAELL rarely wins but does have a decent burst of speed.

Race 6

(7) NICE PARTY mare is two for two on the year and finds another easy spot. (8) FOX VALLEY FLORA filly makes her sophomore debut and has some upside off a nice qualifier. (9) ALWAYS TALKING filly has some issues but does have ability.

Race 7

(3) TIME OUTA JAIL three-year-old colt makes his third lifetime start and finds a weak field. (1) FOX VALLEY VETO finished his 2-year-old season strong, adds second time lasix, and gets a good starting post. The only question is if the trotter needs a start. (6) BOBBY B BREEZE couldn't parlay a perfect trip last out and is probably best used underneath.

Race 8

(1) CAMS SAHBRA gets a different driver and the best post in a wide open race. (4) KIMBERLY R mare rarely wins but just needs a smooth trip for a big chance. (2) GENTLE JANET mare has been improving and was a game winner last out.

Race 9

(8) SHOOTINFORTHESTARS has some ability and gate speed, however the pacer needs a trip with a low percentage driver. (1) SUNSET DREAMER impeccably bred gelding paced a lifetime best last race but has disappointed as a heavy favorite before; use caution. (3) WELL DUNE needed his first start and gets a decent starting post.

Favorites starting to cash in for bettors

After the Underdog had put in a stellar run in the NBA Playoffs, the favorite looks like it is starting to cash in for bettors, putting together a modest 2-0 against the spread run in the past two games.

The Miami Heat won 87-83 over the Indiana Pacers, covering as 2.5-point road faves Tuesday night. This result just one night following the San Antonio Spurs' big 122-105 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder as 6-point faves Monday.

The Spurs are currently 6-point favorites in Game 2, which goes Wednesday night in San Antonio.

Fielder received an injection for a herniated disc in his neck and has missed the last three games. He is questionable to return on Wednesday against the Mariners.


American League cashing in for over bettors

The American League has been the host to some big offensive outputs since Sunday. Between Sunday and Tuesday the AL has an over/under record of 11-5.

During this three day stretch, teams have averaged 9.75 runs per game and have topped double-digit totals seven times.

There are six AL games on tap for Wednesday.


Indians have not solved Scherzer since 2012

Despite seeing him at least three times a season, the Cleveland Indians have not been able to solve Max Scherzer.

Since the start of the 2011 season, Scherzer is 9-2 against the Indians. That impressive domination has included the Tigers winning Scherzer's past six starts against the Indians and his last four at Progressive Field.

The Tigers are -152 road-faves against the Indians (+140) Monday.


Padres relieved about Cashner's diagnosis

An MRI exam of Andrew Cashner's right elbow and forearm on Monday allowed the San Diego Padres to breathe at least a temporary sigh of relief.

The test showed no reason to be immediately concerned about the state of the right-hander's ulnar collateral ligament.

Cashner was immediately placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday after coming forward and telling Padres manager Bud Black that he was experiencing discomfort in his elbow and forearm.

After reviewing the MRI, Padres team physicians recommended rest for Cashner.
