There has to be plenty of potential "deepthroats" out there for the Bush administration.

I don't think the mainstream press has the same freedom, power or even the motivation to topple Government anymore.
The Nixon debacle was a fuxxing disaster for America.
Modern Corporatisation had made the media more an arm of the state than an independent observer and servant of the people.
(Orwell would have had a ball with stuff like this.)

Recent example:
The entire US media/press corps avoided asking Bush if there was a direct connection between Saddam and 9/11 for 18 months.
During which time....he invaded Iraq.
Other stuff is different too, the Patriot act is here.
Demonstrations are virtually non-existent in the US nowadays, look at the last G7 in Washington.
Where the heck were the demonstrators??
To me, it looks like folks are scared.

We've got a G8 here in July.
It should be quite a party with thoosands of anti-government whackos.
As far as over here is concerned, the anti-global crazies are an essential part of these Government get togethers.

Classic Bush reaction:

Bush, asked by reporters whether Felt was a hero, said "it's hard for me to judge (until) learning more about the situation. All I can tell you is that it was a revelation that caught me by surprise."

Wasn't Bush in his 20's at that time? Oh yeah, I forgot, he was too coked up and busy getting women abortions to pay attention to politics. What more is there to learn? And is he really going to be spending what little brainpower he has to learn more about the situation? What a putz.
