ICE is so fucking stupid. My wife's cell phone was stolen, so I send her to ICE with my old Nokia cell phone to get her GSM chip, and they refuse to give it to her! They want a cell phone receipt for a new cell phone?!!?! WTF!!!! And obviously I don't have the receipt from 5 years ago for that Nokia, which I have already given to them before. Assholes.

My co-workers tell me c5,000 colones at Outlet Mall (San Pedro) for a receipt. Though I'd prefer to avoid the trip to that side of town. Anyone done it in Heredia or Escazu?

any pawn shop can give you the receipt you need

Believe me I'm not the cell phone God. But I have sold a lot of phones and I'm at ICE every morning. I have learned alot over the past year just about what you can and what you cannot do. ICE does have rules but like alot of other things in this country it comes down to who you know not what you know.

I agree with you but I would actually seek legal means to force them to activate the line because they would mean something like "yeah we know you used this phone before and we know its ok and SOMEWHERE we have the invoice along with the never ending copies of the cedula that we ask every single time we do anything........BUT we are still not going to activate it" (unless the situation was something like : the phone was activated and the original phone number is still active BUT they want to activate a 2nd line with this one, in that event it would make sense to deny the extra activation )

for the TDMA lines that was the rule, once it was activated its good to go for life
