Wooden coached UCLA from 1948 to 75

Bartow coached UCLA just two years compiling a 52-9 record, followed by Gary Cunningham, then Larry Brown, and then a host of coaches followed...

That was before my time, I've only heard stories. But my dad has said that Bill Walton was the best college player ever, for sure. He also said that Doug Collins was the best guard. Anyone see Collins play in college? My dad went to IL State, and said I would never believe how good he actually was, and that he would have been on Larry Bird's level, had he not gotten injured and ended his NBA career after only a few seasons.

The team to beat was NC STATE WOLFPACK, David Thompson was the original high flyer, before dunking was allowed...They were the best team in the 1970's, on probation two of thompson's 3 seasons at State, finally off probabtion and beating UCLA in 1974.

Pistol Pete in a laugher

He averaged 44+ points per game for three consecutive years when there was no shot clock and no 3 point line. He had very little help and wasn't playing on a "dynasty" like Walton. Also, freshman were not allowed to play back then. They had freshman teams that played before the varsity games. During Pete's freshman year, the place would be packed for the freshman game and clear out when the varsity game started.

Pete's scoring record is one that will likely never be close to being broken.

44 points a game. Most unbreakable record in college basketball.

whats so strong if they had 3pt shots when he played its no telling how many he would have scored because his favorite shot was behind the key. Calvin Murphy was playing for Niagara the same time Pete was playing. Ralph Yukala, Jeff Tribett, Rich Hickman, and Apple Sanders was the starting lineup. greatest College Basketball player I have ever seen in my life, and also probably the best passer ever to play the game too.
