I want to bet the Huskies.

Why?

Read on....Please give me your thoughts. :think2:

The Huskies shot the 5th most free throws in the nation 19 with a percentage of 70%, and led the Pac-10 in scoring 79 per game.

Purdue can be had by multiple driving threats such as Isaiah Thomas, Justin Deantmon and Venoy Overton and an up-tempo style such as the Huskies likes to play. The Huskies are a physical, transition –style team with a premier rebounder in Jon Brockman

Purdue lacks frontcourt depth Johnson (6-10) and Calasan (6-9) are the only two players they have that can truly guard the big Husky frontline of Brockman (6-7), Pondexter (6-6), Gant (6-8) Amaning (6-9) and <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place>Holiday</st1:place> (6-6).

The negative that I see with the Huskies is that they beat themselves evidenced by coughing up nearly 15 turnovers a game and scored the league’s fewest three-pointers for the season. Justin Dentmon is their only perimeter threat.

Purdue will play the type of hard nosed defense that UW has not seen all year.

Personally. I am staying away and hoping a 2nd half opens up.

I think this is the biggest toss up on the board and will be the best game of the day.

Yes, but Amanying is not a threat to score. Brockman is beast inside, but they played MSU who is more physical than UW. Also, Johnson's height will be a factor and unlike Thabeet vs Blair, Johnson has good lateral movement and is athletic for his size.

The only true post guy that Brockman faced in the Pac 10, who was bigger than him height wise was Jordan HIll. Pendgraph is useless. He has to thing about every move before he makes it. Baynes for WSu can't move. Who else in Pac 10 even has a player over 6'9 on their frontline. Dragovic maybe 6'9, but the closest he comes to the lane is shooting a FT.

Brocman against USC and Taj Gibson (2 games)

10 points on 2-16 shooting

Got completely shut down.

Good points. Although I would argue that Baynes had a monster game against Brockman in the last game of the year. I don't remember his exact stats, but I know they were over 20 points and 10+ rebounds.

I agree this should be a good game. I hope I'm wrong, but I think Purdue might give UW fits today.

Im all over Purdue........I think them and Michigan State are the class of the big ten......and yes, I think those two teams are better than the Pac 10 champ Washington....God knows, that means nothing and I can lose, but Im on Purdue....will probably give back what I won on Nova with them...

Drew Griffin: Glad you won your 'Nova game against another Pac-10 biggie. I agree Purdue looks mean and tough. Thanks for your thoughts.

Purdue can be physical, but it seems they rely on the outside shot also. Against Northern Iowa, did not seem to physical and would
only score in spurts. I think that has been the problem with Purdue. When hot, they are hot, and of course the inverse.
Washington has played some teams with toughness too. Look at
ASU and USC. They are tough teams, so Washington is not going in there expecting a gimme. I personally think Washington takes it, but you never know in this tourney.

I need Memphis to cover and that will get me back to 1-1 and then hopefully Washington can get me to 2-1 . I've had to come back to win the last 2 days in a row, can I do it 3 days in a row? time will tell

remember bigtendominator in that other thread when i brought up this hypothetical matchup. that just came to my head now when i saw this thread.

as i said in the other thread, washington doesn't have the discipline to play a half court game. it's easier for purdue to run up and down with washington then washington to play a half court game.

better team, plays defense, is disciplined and experienced. purdue for the win.

Nova was at home and I got burned there, but Washington is at home----sure its a 3 hour drive, but wait till you see the crowd, I saw the game the other night and it looked like a Washington home game, Washington is a dangerous home team historically
