Was FDR on meth?

Watched the documentary on PBS a while back and the thought came to mind.

His tireless schedule over an extended time plus his handicap had to be even more tiring.

His health failing.

The clincher was how his teeth seemed to rot in his mouth in the final years.

JFK certainly used legal methamphetamine during his tenure. Wouldn't surprise me if FDR did likewise and it was just easier to conceal from the general public

Actually, it was indeed the "same meth" you can get today with a legal script.

But it should not be confused with illegal methamphetamine manufactured outside of licensed Rx pharmaceutical facilities.

Legal methamphetamines are prescribed at a much lower frequency than prior to the 1980s.

One of the places that uses it routinely is the US Air Force and US Navy who dispense it to pilots flying fighter jets. That's one job where you cannot afford even a momentary lapse in concentration due to fatigue or general inattention brought on by the often tedious nature of the long distance flight patterns.

Alot of children, even children under the age of 10 years old are prescribed methamptheamine under the brand name "Desoxyn". Adderall, which is over 60% dexamphetamine, a drug which is nearly identitical to methampethamine in terms of effects is prescribed to treat millions of ADHD children in the USA. The reason why methheads are so "beat up / worn down" is due to the fact the drug is illegal and methcooks use the cheapest ingredients and more often than not they use literal poison/toxins as fillers when cooking the shit.

Hitler was a ampethamine head as well. It's not the drugs that kill people, it's the system. :103631605

Good points about the illicit ingredients in street meth.

However, I can testify - via my own use (prior to Oct 1995) and the shared experiences of many meth abusers during my years working with recovery groups - that the principle reasons street meth users are tore up are dehydration and malnutrition

Meth removes the normal body urges to eat or drink. Additionally, use of strong stimulants pulls most of the body's Vitamin Bs and those are a key component to healthy oral hygiene.

"meth mouth" is not a byproduct of meth per se. Rather it is a byproduct of the mouth being chronically dry and deprived of Vitamin B.

I agree with you there. Then again if drugs were legal, individuals who use drugs would have this information and thus could prevent dehydration and malnutrition.

It's amazing how many people "abuse" prescription drugs these days do so without knowing the drugs classification, let alone the side effects.

Either way, it all comes back to the system being the problem in my opinion.

The book I read about the "Big Three" Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin, made it clear that FDR enjoyed a few strong gin and tonics on occasion. An individual could assume he might also enjoy a "blast of crank" to keep up his stressful schedule being the POTUS during WW II.

Stuff is "Death In A Baggie" IMHO. NEVER AGAIN. I try to encourage people who have tried meth and continue to use it to "just leave it be" and you will be better off.

Again, another myth busted by someone who has information on things really work instead of urban legends.

Does this same phenomenon occur in kids who are prescribed similar drugs for ADD? If so, are they told to make sure they take a good amount of vitamins and drink plenty of water?
