I was on a business trip to Windhoek, Namibia last week. On Friday at noon I ended up in some local bar. I somehow felt strange because I was the onliest white guy in there but I had no problem with it. After a while I started some conversation with others in the bar. Finally we spoke about betting and I told them that I really miss the opportunity of being able to bet during that trip. Then someone told me that there are three great and famous NAMIBIAN sports events on that day and that his uncle is a local bookmaker. I asked him if betting is legal in his country and with a big smile in his face he told me that there is no regulation for it. After some drinks they bought me (it tasted horrible and I was drunk just after the first one) I went together with four guys from the bar to see the bookmaker.
Now the problem started. I was so drunk that I even did not realize that we met him at a park. I must have had rocks in my head but I started talking to the so called bookmaker and he showed me some paper with odds for the three events.
First of all there was a boxing fight. The odds for the underdog were 2.7. The second event was a basketball match with the favourite being around 1.6 and the last one was a soccer match with odds of 1.10 for the favourite. I asked him about my betting options and if I could see some statistics as well as the betting limit. He gave me some infos and said that he only accepts a parlay for all three matches with a betting limit of 2000 USD. I asked someone of the other guys if he was legit and if he had enough money to pay out my winnings. The guy replied that he never failed to pay out. I finally know why.
I played a three teamer on the events mentioned above. It was 2000 USD to win 7504 USD. In case I hadn`t been drunk there wouldn`t have been any action on such a bs but I was out of my mind. I asked the bookmaker for some kind of paper with my bets on it and he wrote me a ticket onto handkerchief. I am not kidding you - it was a handkerchief !!!!!
After a while we left for the boxing match. The match was not too bad. Three rounds of boxing in a buiding that looked like a stable for horses but the guy i was on won.The second bet was an easy win too (85-35). So I was already counting the money I would win with my last bet.
When we arrived at the pitch (I thought it would be a stadium) but it looked more like a shithole. There were around 150 or so people in audience and for the first time i realized that i wasn`t the onliest white guy there. The match went pretty good for me. My team was up 2-0 at ht when something really strange happened. During halftime I saw the bookmaker speaking to the coach of the team i was on. The second half started and the other team scored a goal with 1 minute left to play. What happened now was more than strange. The ref let the team play until the 98th minute and then gave away a penalty in favour of the team is was betting against. They scored and then the ref blew the final whistle. So I lost my bet. 2000 USD were lost by some penalty in the 98th !!!!! minute.
After the game I spoke to the bookmaker again and asked for more betting options for the next day. He told me that he has a very special event in mind which was catfighting. He said that the favourite will easily win the fight but the limit was just 1k. According to him the odds were 1,04 on this cat. I told him that i want to bet but need some more infos. He said that this betting option was "open" until midnight. I asked him to make my selection tomorrow and he replied that he will accept it but I have to pay in advance. So I gave him the money and our deal was that we will meet at the bar two hours prior to the fight on the next day.
I was at the bar but guess what - he never showed up. So I lost 3k.

WHAT I WANT TO DO WITH THIS POST IS WARNING EVERY POSTER HERE OF BETTING ON NAMIBIAN SPORTS. I THINK ALL GAMES THERE ARE OR WERE FIXED.

-9999 this is bull shit.

If its true, I'll pay 3k to follow you around with a video camera and cash in with a documentary when you live (or should I say die) through an experience like in the movie Hostile.

I dont believe this story can possibly be true. If it is, then you are the dumbest person on the face of the earth.

Good comedy though, you should look into becomming a comedian cause that shit had me howling.

I find this very hard to believe. You trust some guy in a 3rd world country to pay you out $7000+? And, you are betting 2 grand on a parlay of a local soccer match, and some other shady events. On top of that, after you saw the bookmaker talking to your team's coach you bet another 1k on a "catfight" :monsters-

Either you are very very wealthy, and 3k is nothing, or this is bs.

Sounds like you'd lose the money eventually so he was really just freeing up some of your time.

Funny story-bogus(I think), but funny.

I have to throw in the "I think" disclaimers, because I've seen people do some CRAZY shit on those vacation benders.

I would love to bet on catfights. I don't even care if it's 2 women fighting or actual cats fighting, I'd bet on either one. Someone see if M Vick will pick up this action.
