Warmer Woodbine Monday Night

Going to try a hand with Woodbine again tonight. I'll cap the card but asterisk what I feel are best bets to narrow it down and create some focus for those who are playing.

R1: 6 Lookslikeatrooper WPS
Bottom level claimer here. Troooper is the one with the backclass and the cleanest slate for manners. My only reservations with him is his love of the frontrunning style and that damn cold wdb backstretch. Crown caper will be the horse in the stretch IMO so it is a tough call - how far out can trooper be at that point?

R2: Firstline Valiant WP

2 horse race IMO - Firstline and Downhill Skier. Downhill with Christoforou will likley take the betting here and if all holds true CC will be looking for the 2 for 2 already tonight.

R3 : dart Time

I'd normally steer clear of this one. There WILL be one or two blatant favourites - Stonebridge Regal (8-5) and Mr Michael. If one thing happens at the start, then I'd say that my longer shot could unfold. I can forsee BluerdigeDbang pressing the pace early (26?). If that occurs and continues then there is one horse that can take that pace and still perform at this level.
Take the two logical picks OR take a flyer and maybe place an "offsetting" bet as well in case logic prevails

R4: #5 Jiffy Popcorn WIN !!!!!!!!

This is what I have been waiting for.....paybacks.....paybacks for a stiffing last week....... (sorry, I digress) . In the Snowshoe on the 11th MacDonald made his ONLY mistake of the night. Jiffy was full of life and he got caught on the rail - note how he had to make a backwards move from 3rd to 4th - trying to get outside across 3 lanes of traffic so the live horse could be unleashed! Outcome - sds took one in the arse.

He'll be challenged by Brandonsnorthernluck and #7 Sunny Supreme

Race #5: Night Sounds, tri Luck, Days with Dad..............

Watch out for "Days".....he is capable of knocking 2 secs off this field and I suspect that his last qualifier was a setup to be ready to do just that very soon. regardless, 3 hole, CC on the game, I'll lean to him DESPITE the fact that others will be betting the other two heavier.

The dark horse in this one should be "Exquisite Art." ENORMOUS move last outing at this level. Spocks Rocket & miasbunny might be the two right behind. The crowd should like DrJ's Posse & Damn Yankee(dropper).

I am looking for casimir Dow Jones to show her closing kick. Watch for Nelligan Becquet - chalk. Good Flamboro form and nice start at Wdb - good close. Will be favoured. I am opting to drop her into 2nd for this one along with Mentor

Race8 : Rockingham....Ponder.....Rockingham...Ponder.......

Hang tight while I ponder this one.

I'll give Rockingham the Nod due to his ability to shift gears during a race. Last outing won at this level and the time before he shuffled waaaay back to pick his spot and steal a win. Hoping that Ponder takes all the dough and leaves us with nice odds.

#3 Admirals Caddy gets my bet even though IjustDontGiveACam will be 1-1.
I just can't get a feeling from this chalk horse yet. Play the big fav or take a stroll down stress lane with me.

Plenty of horses to get confused with here. I like Shadow Raider as he drops like an elevator with busted cables. Crooked Stick (just off a wire-wire win), Hussy Chaser and Antique Collector should take a fair bit of wagering.

A few nuclear BOMBS this evening spoiled the game but the finale made up a bunch. I hit shadow pretty hard as I couldn't believe he wasn't 1-1 or worse.



tough night once again. Can any harness authority give us some reasons why "live" horses get parked and ultimately shuffled with a great driver? Seems to me that he'd know his horse is live and he'd know better than to get behind dying cover...still perplexes me.
