I've never placed an if-bet, reverse, or round robin, and was just wondering when would a reverse bet be practical? I usually have strong feelings on 2 bets everday, but either one or both lose. Is this where a reverse bet comes in?

Reverse Bets

Definition

A reverse bet is a series of 'If' bets going both forward and in "reverse" order. Each team included in the reverse bet will pair with the other team to form two 'if' bets.
Example:

1st part:

New England Patriots -8 $110 to win $100
Action (If win, push, "No Action", or canceled)
Buffalo Bills (-175)
Risk $110 to win $63

2nd part:

Buffalo Bills (-175) $110 to win $63
Action (If win, push, "No Action", or canceled)
New England Patriots -8
Risk $110 to win $100

Total risk $220 (Maximum Risk) to win $326 (Maximum Win)
  • If the Patriots and the Bills both win you will win $163 on the 1st part of the reverse wager and $163 on the second part, for total winnings of $326.
  • If the Patriots win and the Bills lose you will lose $10 on the first part of the reverse wager and $110 on the second part, for total losses of $120
  • If the Bills win and the Patriots lose you will lose $110 on the first part of the reverse wager and $47 on the second part, for total losses of $157.
  • If one team pushes, is "No Action" or is canceled and the other team is a loss you will lose $220.
  • If one team pushes, is "No Action" or is canceled and the other team wins you will win either $126 for the Bills or $200 for the Patriots.
Please note: The wager description will always display the MAXIMUM risk amount, being the most you can lose with a loss of the first and second of the two wagers, and the MAXIMUM win amount, being the most you can win with both wagers winning on the ticket.
Reverse Betting Rules

  • Only the four major sports: football, basketball, baseball, and hockey can be included in reverse bets.
  • Only two bets can be included in a reverse bet.
  • Circled games, parlays and teasers cannot be included in reverse bets.
  • A reverse bet must be placed prior to the start time of the earliest event on the ticket.
  • Both bet amounts MUST BE EQUAL.
  • In reverse bets, each part or sequence has "If Action". The second bet will not have action unless the first bet is a win, push, no action, or canceled.
  • You cannot place reverse bets for futures or props.

Reverse bets are tough in my opinion...its just better to play each game medium and then do a small parlay on both games...JMO

I prefer reverses to parlays. Neither one has an advatage over the other. Just risking more to win more with a reverse.

Parlays pay higher - but you have to win both sides of the parlay ex- 2team parlay lay 200 win 520

As Max said a 2-team DAR forms two "if-win tie" that are chained -- lay 200 = 2 bets laying 100 to win 181 total payout $362 -- the advantage here is if you win the first bet you get paid 181 and then have action on the second - win the second and you get paid $362 lose the second and still get paid on the first.
lose the first and you do not have action on the second -- disadvantage = win on both and and you WISH you played a parlay for a $520 payout:toast:

No, reverses pay higher. 4-1. A $200 reverse pays $800.

Also, You're comparing it against a parlay and not factoring in a $-175 in the price. That parlay would pay $400.

I was doing figures on a standard -110 ml

on a 2t parlay with 1 - -110 and another -175 lay 200 get 400

on a 2 team DAR 1 with a -175 and another with -110 you would need to lay $350 to win $400 on each team or $700 to win $800

with both sides at -110 you lay 220 for 400 on each side of the reverse or $440 to win 800

odds say 4-1 but remember that you are placing 2 bets - you pay twice plus juice

That's wrong.

You're risking -285 to win 400. If both were to lose it would be......

Team A -110
Team B -175 BOTH LOSE!!!!

-285

The example Maxdemo uses is from Bodog. They're the only ones who factor a reverse where you could only risk -110 on each side. It's completely retarded and there's no advantage either way to other books with their reverses. Just more confusing if you ask me.

I've emailed them about it and they know they do it differently.

I still have it figured at $350 to win $400 twice
But even at $285 to win $400 that is $570 to win $800
A parlay still pays quite a bit better

This is not what you're getting. A split is the difference. You would only pay $285 if you lost BOTH in a reverse! You're comparing a $100 reverse against a $285 parlay.

In a reverse you pay the lay twice - once for the bet and once for the reverse

you are not allowed to pay one ml forward and a different ml on the reverse

What?

I'll write this out. These are the three different scenarios of a reverse. Lets make it easy and make both bets -110 for $100 reverse.

BOTH WIN Team a +100
.............. Team b +100

reverse.....Team b +100
...............Team a +100
-------------------------
.........................+$400

One win, one lose Team a +100
..........................Team b -110
reverse................Team a -110
---------------------------------
...................................-$120

Both Lose....Team a -110
.................Team b -110
--------------------------
...........................-$220

you pay $220 to win $400
or
you pay 110 to win $200 twice
