Just flew US Scareways to Phoenix from Milwaukee last Thursday night. Good piloting after birds flew into the engine. Lucky it stayed afloat and rapid response to the aircraft.
Still would rather fly than drive on the highways with all the idiots on the ground.

The talk at my airlines office was "oh boy, luggage lines are gonna be busy" lol I laughed my ass off--cuz I knew it was cold that day and thought the wreck was worse. Some person said "yeah, they're fishing people out of the water--luggage is everywhere" HAHAHHAHAHAHA oh man, I was just thinking these ppl are joking right? No, they weren't. I replied "Cuz the luggage is more important than the people, right?" hahaha

Not sure if this whole thing might have been staged.

We will know more when the pilot is released, if he ever will be that is.

was thinking the exact samething, doesnt pass the smell test. The guy reads tons of books on this type of emergency landing and gave classes on emergency landings I read.. He also seems very much like a yes man. I play tennis with several commercial pilots, none are as phony as this guy. Some one posted in poli forum was a deversion of something sinister the government was doing to us. Quick to call him a hero, BFD this was a rouitine and a VERY EASY MANEUVER, my pilot freind was saying.

What exactly are you dummies saying? The pilot is a hero. Other pilots may not have turned toward the river and thus crashing the plane, killing everyone. Other pilots may have tried to make it back to the airport, crashing and killing all aboard. Other pilots may have ditched the plane in the water, breaking the plane into many pieces, killing many people.

Ditching a big airliner in water in one piece takes incredible flying skills.

Railbird is suggesting that nothing was wrong with the plane and the pilot wanted to try this because he is somewhat of a whacko when it comes to this kind of stuff.

When will the pilot speak on this?

Great picture of the airplane in the water, and the passengers are walking on the wing. (looks like they are walking on water)

new york needs a good feel story and this was it.........fwiw
