Instead of having someone there to interview her, they had her set up with headphones and a microphone and the SC guy interviewed from the office.

Then twice he mentions about how she has a lot of young girl fans. She has a lot of young boy fans, and a lot of adult male and female fans. It seemed very sexist and condescending to me the way they presented it.

I'm not a women's soccer fan, but she deserved better treatment. She has been the most dominating figure in her sport. The ESPN crew shouldn't treat her so patronizingly. They would have been better off not covering the event at all, then to do it the way they did, IMO.

Uh.. Why is she even retiring?

She is only 32 years old, and I am sure she can still play her "A" game. In my opinion there have been many players who have been equal to Hamm if not better.

This early retirement really makes her look like a spolied rich athlete.

Booo hoo you played professional soccer for 12 years and you can't cut it anymore?'

Sounds to me like she is far from professional grade.

At 32 most women have to come back to reality and decide to have children before it is too late.

The question should have been: Having a lot of young children as fans must be great... are you retiring to have your own children?

ESPN should have hired Oprah to do the interview.

I think the responses are funny. In a group of guys bullsh*ttin it's cool... but I think a network like ESPN shouldn't be so blatantly chauvanistic.

It was disgusting the coverage ESPN was giving to Nomar's wife. There should have been no coverage. Terribly boring.

Let Oxygen or Lifetime cover it in depth. I am proud of what Mia has done but let's not get out of control here.
